If you’re sharing stuff such as “it’s the Jews” or “it’s all secretly AIPAC”, you’re not progressive, you’re not an “indie journalist”, and you’re not digging up some underground Jewish cabal activity.
You’re a conspiracy theorist no different from Alex Jones or Marjorie Taylor Greene spreading space lasers and people drinking blood and all the right wing stuff you’ve claimed to abhor. You’re no different.
@TonyStark This is often expressed with euphemisms like "Soros-funded" or "globalists" or "industrialist" or whatever so that it is a dog-whistle--recognizable to the believers but reasonable or innocuous-sounding to others. We hear it and we recognize it, and we are told we are overreacting or "weaponizing antisemitism" when we call it out. But we have to keep pushing back on it.

@TonyStark There's been a recent influx of young "progressives" who have lost the plot, and are acting as virulently antisemitic, pro-Hamas, pro-Islamist agitators. I just read an article about a pack of them who basically took over a NY subway, and screamed antisemitic, pro-Hamas rhetoric in the faces of subway riders. These people are ignorant of the facts, and have been completely captured by anti-Jewish Islamists.
My observation of these types is that they aren't looking to make things better, they're just looking for somebody to blame for their problems, and if that makes things worse, then it doesn't matter, they got in their 2 minutes of hate. And they've been propagandized in such a way that they see people to blame everywhere.
@kilroy_was_here@TonyStark That's my take. It seems to be all about petulant, uninformed children looking for an excuse to express fury. It's this performative outrage that honestly reminds me of the "struggle sessions" that were popular in Mao's China in the 60s.
It's wild to me, someone who's left of center, that the same people who think themselves relatively well versed in microaggressions seem to readily want to commit them on Jewish people all over the world, including people who are entirely uninvolved.
@TonyStark I passed by the manhattan criminal court on Monday when people were crowding around for the Trump case, and someone was holding a huge sign that said “Google Jews vs. TikTok”. I wondered what fresh hell that was. Now I guess I know.
@ShiitakeToast Oh, excellent. I’m actually on the Lower East Side today because I had a meeting earlier and was considering checking out the rest of the city today because I haven’t been here for awhile but gonna just head out then. Unbelievable.
@TonyStark I think they’re not in court on Wednesdays. It’s safe to hang out. Midtown is a little messy, though. They closed off 56th b/t 5&6 because that’s where the secret service is setting up camp.
