cringing at this whole grants pass vs the homeless scotus case because my grandma and many other white flight reaganite retirees moved there in the 1980s and voted to systematically defund their own city and county governments over and over again, to the point where they didn’t even have cops at one point let alone social services. people were literally lining up at gun shops to defend themselves in that town after they defunded their own police
@seachanger Oh Boy! Another opportunity to gratuitously interject that under Eisenhower the top marginal tax rate was 92%. A time when by any modern Republican metric America was really great. A time when the people understood that a robust government making things better for people was worth paying for. They saw the difference between the Depression era economy they had lived thru & the FDR socialism lite world that actually worked well for largest part of the population not just the 1%.
@seachanger People hate the idea of taxes so much and so irrationally that they forget/don't care how many essential services are funded by those taxes.
