@tantramar Yeah, we celebrated that today… and probably again tomorrow. Today’s bonus round was the electrician crawling all over the house, sawing, drilling, stringing, to repair a problem that has to be done in stages. The next one involves a crane, flaggers, cones, supervisor, crew of 4. That will be sometime this week or next, or the one after. We’ll definitely celebrate because we won’t be blowing breakers when we run AC this summer.
@tantramar I'm about (well, this week sometime) to pull the undersink garbage disposal and install an RO system in my kitchen. Not looking forward to it, although as far as plumbing goes, this is one of the easiest.
@TheJen All I did was turn off each of the valves under the kitchen sink to try to isolate the source of a whistling sound. When I reopened the hot water valve, it started leaking. So I’ve had to turn off the water to the whole house (it drips too fast to leave a bucket under it overnight). I mean, this valve might be from the 1960s or 70s, but still. Not a big deal; just ugh.
@tantramar Uuuugh. Tell you what, though, we have moved completely away from copper and use PEX almost exclusively now. I know it's plastic, but repairs are so much easier, and it's a cinch to work with. No mapp gas required.
Because apparently you needed some unasked for advice. ;)
@TheJen some, certainly — like the sewerage pipes. but a lot of exposed pipes got painted at some point, so… mystery abounds. 🤦♂️ Happily, there haven’t been any real plumbing emergencies in the 28 years I’ve been here.
