One of my classes has their final projects due at 11:59pm tonight and the ramp-up of more and more frantic student emails is really depressing.
They had to choose topics in February and turn in drafts in March, and yet it seems that most of them didn't actually start until today...not that I was any better as an undergrad, but man it hurts to watch!
#Linux#kernel 6.8.5, 6.6.26, 6.1.85, and 5.15.154 were released.
They among others contain the mitigations for the "native BHI (Branch History Injection)" hardware vulnerability that were mainlined yesterday[1] shortly after the vulnerability was published[2].
I think that, post-covid, the newer antihistamines are messing with my memory. It shows up when I leave the house and have trouble navigating.
The old-fashioned antihistamine I take at bedtime seems ok. But I have serious pollen allergies. So I finally have given in and ordered a neti-pot for daytime use. #sigh Let's see how this goes.
(I was a swimmer, and I hate water up my nose! My bestie assures me it's really not bad, tho. 🤞 )
@jbrains ah, I see. Social media engagement. #sigh Yes.
Folks can reply fast out of passion or when triggered. But reflection takes a beat, and composing a thoughtful response may take a level of attention some folks are not used to, I think.
It's a clear explainer of #Mastodon, #ActivityPub and the #fediverse. It makes the case for public media to join the network. It mentions running a server versus joining an established one.
And above all, it's a public broadcaster walking the walking instead of just griping about X and then going back to X.
@NatureMC I recently read that you'd have to eat a fair bit of cobalt blue to experience damage. As watercolour I don't worry about it. But the amount of pigment in acrylic paint (we use and discard so much more paint) is alarming. #sigh
One last thing before I turn away to the afternoon's work: I see a lot of advice about using a robots.txt file to halt "AI"-scraper bots, which would be great if it worked.
Since I put the preferred verbiage in my own site's robots.txt, my firewall has stopped over 1800 "AI"-scraping attempts.
In other Skye Household news, today a (rather rough looking) toilet 🚽 appeared suddenly and rather inexplicably by a three way stop 🛑 leading to our area (making it a four way stop?). After the vehicle exploding last week and now this, I’d say this neighbourhood has gone to pot. #Sigh#Neighbours
