The army has had to recruit really quickly to scale to fight terrorism, so I am hoping this is not a top-down order and rather a rogue batallion... which is only marginally better... but IB's silence is very concerning.

@OskarImKeller Thank you so much for reading and for your thoughtful question. IB is the nickname of Ibrahim Traoré (the military officer who's been leading the country since his 2022 coup)

@being Thanks for explaining. I tought it must have been Traoré, but I would have expected the short version to be IT instead of IB.

Out of curiosity, is it just a short form of Ibrahim, or does he have a second name that starts with the letter B? Or is it Ibrahim Burkinabè?

@OskarImKeller it is kind of the standard nickname for Ibrahim, at least in Burkina! I know several other Ibrahims nickamed IB.
