i recently got a new toy! it's a (civilian) miniature drone helicopter directly inspired by the (military) flir black hornet drone helicopter
it doesn't have a FLIR sensor but otherwise seems (from declared characteristics) very similar in design and handling. also it costs $100 instead of $100,000
i charged it and tried flying it! it's definitely... challenging... indoors, also i think it's not trimmed and the controls sometimes do a violently wrong thing
it definitely flies though, it looks fun as hell, and despite crashing it pretty hard several times due to said controls issue it's still very much in one piece
@whitequark I do kind of want one of these now - the one I learned on had probably 3x the rotor radius and at least 3x the chance of needing a new set of rotors every time I crashed it
