It wouldn't be hard to fill in the dots as of who you really are in fedi if you start adding your friends from instagram or facebook or whatever.
And be smart, what they want is the data, a more complete dataset and an expanded market. They will know who you are and they will send you ads, maybe not throught the instance you are in, maybe if you are an admin that will never allow ads on your platform you will be fine, but if you aren't (and most people aren't), then you are in danger, because 1, I am sure facebook will open a service for hosting like cuckflare, 2, they will incentivice monetization of fedi instances, which is something they don't have and that they should never have. What I imagine is a plugin that would allow them to show ads on fedi instances for a price, of course giving some money to the instance admin, akin to how google ads works, and since they can spoof who you are from your interactions they will be able to send in the correct ads your way.
It is pretty standart expand and extinguish practice, there could be even worse things like they modifying the protocol of AP or the mastodon API making it even more closed than what it already is, so no, fuck them, fuck everything facebook has ever done and sent them back to fucking hell.
