, Day 34: Mostly , especially doing groceries. Not many kilometers yet (1.75km), but many kilograms: Frontbag 14kg, rear bag 10kg (beverages), with e-assist and the big battery 17kg, me myself + clothing, multiple swiss army knives, wallet, keyring, etc. 87kg, i.e. 128kg overall. Yes, the Brompton was overloaded.

Thanks to ROK straps (https://rokstraps.com/pages/rok-moto) I can now carry my Brompton on the crate swing out of the shopping cart. Cc @mwfc

today was my late end of #30daysofbiking, added on to the april event because I literally forgot a day while working on my northshore bike map xD

anyway that's 30 days even across 31 and it was a pretty good one, 21 miles with a few buns (I posted the best picture) even if there was also what might be a stolen bike. but!

now i'm wondering how it'll affect my biking in future if at all.

@moira: Here I can seamlessly switch over to our national campaign (for May and June), but I'll also try to continue with the rather generic , i.e. seeing how many days in a row I can do with cycling at least once a day.

Day 12
Still no snow; technically we had a trace overnight as you can see on the lake photo below. As I was between two commitments, I took a quick 14 mile ride on the city trails. I noticed two obvious speeding cars/trucks and since I have radar speed recording now, I was able to tell that the black truck was doing 46 mph in a 30 zone and a silver sports car was doing 78 mph (yes 78!) in a 45 mph zone. My new slogan: Speed governors for cars!

Day 260
Today was gorgeous, sunny, upper 40'sF, lighter winds. After riding 6 miles to meet the hockey guys for coffee, I rode and additional 24 miles on city trails and a bit of the Douglas State Trail, and stopped to pick up some holiday beer on the way home. I spotted TWO Bald Eagles perched in a tree over Bear Creek in Slatterly Park, and two Red Tail Hawks soaring over 55th Street. There were tons of Canada Geese on Cascade Lake.

One of the eagle soared off as I got closer. The remaining one soared off seconds after this shot. It is a tree above Bear Creek in Slatterly Park.

Day 220
Today I was invited to participate in a group gravel ride out of Hammond MN. But I had my shingles vaccine yesterday afternoon and did not want to risk a strenuous ride, so I took the short 17 mile option. What a great decision. It was cool but an awesome autumn morning, bright sunshine and no wind. And the ride was gorgeous, the last half I rode a gravel county road that ran along the Zumbro River, Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures soaring.

Day 155
Today I led the We Bike Rochester Coffee/Social ride. It was a gorgeous morning, sunny, cool, but a tad breezy. I was happy to lead some of the riders to city trails some of them were not even aware of. After the ride and after the donut and lemonade, I went to the store to pick up my new sunglasses. These ones are progressives. I can now finally read what my cycling computer has on its display screen.

Day 152
After spending most of the day at the Minnesota State Fair, where my wife is a horticultural judge, I got home in time to take a quick 20 mile ride before dark. I rode mostly city trails which were a bit busy with lots of walkers and runners. The clouds in the sky were quite interesting given their shape and the lighting near sunset.

Day 150
I am accompanying my wife at the Austin Art Festival, and while she was showing her ceramic art there, I rode my on the Austin city trails and the Shooting Star State Trail for 56 miles. There is not much traffic on the state trail, but I did see a lot of critters including Whitetail Deer, a racoon, a mink? or ferret shaped mammal and a beaver.

Day 135
Today I had the good fortune to ride my on the Eire Canalway Trail from East of Syracuse to Oneida and back on another outstanding day. This is a scenic trail, on the flattest portion of the Eire Canal, i.e. no locks. So if you like flat and straight, this is for you. It was mostly well maintained crushed rock with good signage. It's part of the Empire State Trail system. I saw two riders wearing RAGBRAI jerseys as was I.

Day 134
Today I rode my on the Maple Highlands Trail in Northeast Ohio. This is a well maintained, scenic trail and was fun to ride on a gorgeous day. The trail has several covered bridges. The only downside is that the on the Southern end, horse and buggies are allowed and as a result you have to avoid horse droppings. As is typical when I'm traveling, someone asked me directions as if I've live here. I did give a good answer though.

Day 124
It was a gorgeous day so I took my up to Red Wing and rode the Cannon Valley Trail to Cannon Falls and then the Mill Towns Trail segment to the Lake Byllesby Dam and back, 46 mi. I had a nice breakfast for lunch at Nick's Downtown Diner in Cannon Falls. There were lots of folks, mostly retirees, riding the trail on such a nice day. A Whitetail Buck didn't even flinch as I went by. I had to ride my gravel bike as my road bike needs repairs.

Day 86
I was up early and on my before sunrise to get a quick ride in before traveling to a family reunion. I chose a route to avoid morning rush traffic and that was a good choice. It was also nice and cool on a day that is forecast to be hot later. I rode one of my go-to rides, a loop out to Eyota. There is nothing better than starting the day with a ride on a gorgeous morning. Now I'm ready to go.

Day 80
It was a gorgeous morning for an early ride, but chilly. My Garmin recorded 43F as I rode through the forest preserves in the river valley. But it was still wonderful and invigorating. I rode more of the Des Plaines River Trail, this time headed South from the North Shore Trail. Definitely going to come back to ride here some day.

Day 79
Before today's conference, I went for an early morning ride and discovered the Des Plaines River Trail which I really enjoyed and only wish I had a whole lot more time to ride it a lot further. I'll have to come back someday. The wind off Lake Michigan is keeping the temperatures quite cool for this time of year, but that's just fine with me.

Day 35
After 15 miles of commuting to/from a road safety seminar, I went out on the first club group road ride this evening. It was the first nice day in a couple weeks and everyone and their dog were on the trails, which made the road parts of the ride easier to navigate. We had a good group at a good pace for an early season group ride. The ride was 25 miles, but I added 14 getting to/from the start for a 54 mile day.
