An einer Ampel wartend sprach mich ein Radfahrer auf meine Positionslichter an. Daraus entwickelte sich ein Gespräch, so dass wir uns, die letzten Kilometer nebeneinander fahrend, weiter unterhalten haben.
Das war ein schönes Erlebnis.
Mit #Klapprad unterwegs kommt man oft ins Gespräch mit anderen Menschen. Nicht nur mit denen, die auch #Faltrad fahren, sondern mit allen möglichen Menschen. Besonders in Ländern, wo die Dinger noch selten sind.
Kurz nachdem ich ankam, kam ein junger Mechaniker raus und ruft beim Anblick des Gespanns sofort zurück in die Werkstatt: "Stefan! Stefan! Ein #Brompton mit Anhänger!"
Amüsant daran: Ich habe beide Bromptons und den Anhänger dort gekauft. Aber wohl vor der Zeit des jungen Mechanikers. 😇
Someone recently asked how I carry water on my tours with the #Brompton.
Sometimes I only use a pouch attached to the handlebars for a bottle of water (0.6 lt).
On longer tours I use the big Borroughs bag in the front. This provides two rather large bags which are easily accessible. Each of them can hold up to two bottles (2 times 0.6 + 0.5 lt)
In the back, I can carry another large bottle (1.5 liters).
Get moving! Yes, I mean you! I know several people whom I wished they would finally get on their bicycles and get moving. So far, they only talked about it, but never really acted. They have a variety of excuses: They "have no time"; "their body is not in shape"; "it's too cold right now, I wait until it gets warmer"; "my bicycle would need to get fixed first"; and many more. I would like to urge them to lift their bodies now.
I did it! I bicycled all the way between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Graz, Austria, with the #Brompton. I did this in three portions between April 2023 and now. I covered the distance of 1900 km in 25 days of bicycling.
#30DaysOfBiking, Day 5, Part 2: Went into the weekend a bit earlier due the time I worked during the Easter weekend on understanding and locally mitigating the #xz f🤬ckup. Ran some cycling related errands: bringing a rain jacket to #Transa for repair and visiting my #Brompton repair shop #Velofix for making an appointment for the next maintenance. #30DaysOfBiking, Day 5, Part 3: Wasn't sure if I should already do the planned full day tour through the #Sihl valley and back via #KnoauerAmt, but I decided to see how far I get. Worked very smooth. In #Sihlbrugg (turning point of the tour) I managed to make a check mark on my #BucketList: I rode through a #DriveIn (#McDrive) with my #Brompton. 😁 I had fun and the #McDonalds personnel were amused, too.

#30DaysOfBiking Day One: took my e-Brompton out for its first spin of the season. Despite it being a leisure ride that I didn’t need to haul anything for, I decided to also try out its SeatPostHugger (by #EerderMetaal) and mount a rear bag on the seat post—worked great! That is going to make it a lot easier to use the e-Brompton to haul things sometimes instead of always using the acoustic #Brompton.
The insurance (laka) I got for my brompton bike just doubled its cost and added extra requirements, because they started looking at regions where you live. I don't even use my bike here. Looking for dutch alternatives if someone knows any.
Things I'm running into: required ringlock, needs to be of only known brands (brompton unknown), needing tons of locks and costing a fortune.
Seems like there is a travel insurance that'll cover most of the cost of theft...
🙈 Keine-Ahnung-haber fährt gleich zum Fahrradgeschäft um sich beraten zu lassen. Scheitert wahrscheinlich schon an der Rahmengröße und landet bei den Kinder-Fahrrädern.
Empfehlungen? Letzte Worte?
@blubberfrosch ich bin damals auch ohne Ahnung hin, jetzt habe ich ein #Brompton. Wenn du also was zum falten willst und bereit bist das Geld hinzulegen, dann gibt es IMHO nix besseres...
