The four of us had a 4-person compartment (=1st class): OK beds, handy sleeping bag, wifi and power sockets on board. Comfort therefore fine, were it not for the announcements, and the lack of coffee....

Taking the SJ #EuroNight#nighttrain from Stockholm to Berlin tonight. The train left on time at 17:34, but we are still in Södertälje Syd because of an electrical failure between here and Gnesta. There is no information on when the train can proceed. Have a #sleeper cabin, hoping to wake up in Germany. Always exciting to #interrail!

The #EuropeanSleeper was uneventful. The #SJ#NightTrain from Berlin was fun: I made a new friend, joined the birthday party of our 3 yo compartment mate, had long chats with the train manager who used to be a #FOSDEM regular 10 years ago.
Apparently #RDC / #BTE has some good things coming soon, in time for the summer season. Newly renovated wagons and whatnot.
🇭🇺🍴 A spontaneous after-work trip to the 7th biggest city of #Hungary🇭🇺. It was EC 149 "Hortobágy" from #Vienna🇦🇹 to #Győr🇭🇺 with a wonderful fully-fledged #MÁV🇭🇺 #diningcar and a delicious meal with a vegan🌱 Indian chickpea ragu🍛 with rice as well as "Császármorzsa", shredded pancakes for dessert 😍!
🇺🇦🛌 This train runs with two through sleeping-cars to #Kyiv🇺🇦 on a daily basis. They are SOLD OUT every day and are an important connection to #Ukraine🇺🇦. Amazing job by #UZ🇺🇦 as well as by #ÖBB🇦🇹 and #MÁV🇭🇺! It's always heartwarming at the platform of #Vienna main train station. #CrossBorderRail#nighttrain
are there any good websites to travel accross Europe, taking into account night trains ? I plan to travel from Bruxelles to København in June, but I can't find much.... (e.g. the one below suggests a travel mainly during the night, but with 5 transfers.. during the night !). I mean night train where we sleep... #nighttrain
So pleased there are night trains into #Germany from #Sweden, the network is growing! There's a certain romanticism that has never left the #NightTrain, often economic benefits, and SO. MUCH. LESS. CO2 compared to flying!

It was a huge mistake by Deutsche Bahn to discontinue the Berlin-Paris night train...so it's a wonderful turn of events that ÖBB has led the push to start the connection again.
A new sleeper service between Berlin and Paris arrived in the French capital on Tuesday 12 December, reflecting a growing drive for night trains as an alternative to short-haul flights.
The 14-hour nocturnal trip from the German to the French capital is to run three times a week, and is scheduled to become daily from October next year.

I love #trains . I love the #nighttrain even more. But neither the Swedish nor the Norwegian rail seems to value that.
Train carriages from the stone age. Narvik-Stockholm night train today: Two locomotives broke down. With -25C outside rapidly getting cold. 3 hour delay. Gonna miss all my onward connections to CPH. Most trains to CPH during the day fully booked.
If we want people to swap planes with the trains, we HAVE to do something about the rotting infrastructure.
