I just saw a commercial on a major American television network that told me to set my for an upcoming episode of… it’s 2024!

Please tell me it’s 2024 & I haven’t hit a time ripple that has me back to the time of TiVo and DVR!

Why the fuck is any network talking about DVR in 2024!?

The same fucking network just forced an playoff game onto their platform! And the next night, they want me to set my DVR to record an episode of America’s Got Talent of all shows!?

Excited that got , but I can't help but feel the future of in general isn't as bright as it was a few years ago...

Then again, I personally think peaked with , and that the recent stuff hasn't reached the same highs.

With that and the era about to take off in earnest in , I'm wondering if I'm about to go through another major phase

@mikey that's exactly how I feel. I was raised on reruns of and , and when I was home with a cold in elementary school, I would watch 3 hours of Star Trek programming on SpikeTV, an episode of TNG, , and shown in the afternoon. When we got a for the first time, my mom and I set up automatic recording for every star trek thing we could. But as I became a teen it started being on reruns less and less and less, so I shifted into Star Wars right as bought .

STOP Paying for TV and cut the Cord for good. I haven't paid for OTA TV in over a decade, and neither should you. I made a guide on how to build your own DVR with Plex, Inc. for their Pro Week!

Sitting here & I'm still pissed that is going to stop supporting . I've used cable cards for decades with DVR equipment I own

Now they want to force me to rent their equipment & pay for service

Plus, I no longer will have a copy of the or I record on my local computer & media server

This makes me angry, esp since I don't live in an area that gets OTA signals. None. Not one Over the air station, even with an 30 feet high
