Review: Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats Honor the Italian Underground with Nell’ Ora Blu
More of a Giallo film than a record, but still very good.
Whenever I finally get my #horror anthology comic running, the first story will be a #giallo tribute I've been sitting on called "Blood Runs Blacker Than Ink" about a series of killings at a prestigious graphic design school.
I have a decent outline, but I refuse to finish writing it until I am ready to launch the horror anthology.
Films that really deserve a Blu-ray release #4: The House With Laughing Windows (Pupi Avati, 1976)
In my humble opinion, The House With Laughing Windows represents the very best of what the giallo filone has to offer. That it's yet to be picked up by any distributor remains a real puzzle to me. There may be perfectly valid reason why this is the case. But it better be a good one and, besides, you know what? I don't want to hear it!
The Italian-Spanish co-production MURDER MANSION (1972). Three people take refuge in a spooky house. There are rumours of vampires and witches. But is this a gothic horror movie or a giallo? It doesn't matter. It's crazy oddball and fun and looks good.
For those new to the Giallo filone, the definitive All The Colors Of Giallo (Federico Caddeo, 2019) should provide an excellent introduction. The full documentary is available below. Highly recommended!
