Mom wanted a day of relaxation. We started with hot tub session before brunch. She only wants to walk the nature trails on property today so we are off to do that after I dry up by firepit. We are looking for more rocks to paint & decoupage.
We stopped at Stoked Wood Fired Pizza before checking in. Shared some pizza on their patio. Had a beer. I highly recommend this local small business. They have excellent foods, made to order, awesome staff & two large patio spaces. Their little store is packed with many local made products from #VancouverIsland & BC.
Checked in, unloaded, lit firepit up & now chilling by fire with a book & sipping a honey blonde ale from local #Sooke craft brewery - Bad Dog Brewing Company. The sun has just come back out. It's still raining. I'm going to hottub later.
Wifi reception is spotty & I have no cell service here. I'll mostly be posting photos while on getaway.
[A Campbell River landmark during the town’s early years, the Willows Hotel served both an international sportsfishing clientele and the rough and ready loggers from isolated camps. This permanent exhibit shows the Willows’ façade and entrance through which visitors step into the hotel lobby as it would have appeared c. 1914]
This #Thunderbird#Bear Pole was inspired by a pole carved by Sam Henderson in the 1960s. This pole was #carved by Sam’s son Bill and grandsons Junior, Greg and Will.
We met this friendly little native boy by the riverside. As I was coming down the trail to the riverbank, he grinned & then told me he's going to catch me with his net 😂 He was with his Dad, fishing. Little dude wanted to show us the little fish he caught in his net. He released it after.
One several photos I took of Mom, doing her fave beach scavenging thing - collecting rocks & driftwood.
By time we left Campbell River, half of our trunk was filled with rocks & other half with driftwood. Mom was saying, if she had a truck & a tow line - she'd be taking home larger driftwood pieces 😂🤣
Lucked out & were able to enjoy an indoor dining meal yesterday. It was due to calling ahead & arriving very early. I'd planned on getting takeout & cooking most of trip.
We were the only customers inside. It was well ventilated when we got there. It was at Anchor Waterfront Restaurant. I had a $100 GC & redeemed it. https://anchorrestaurant.ca/
