Dutch philosopher and scholar Baruch Spinoza was born #OTD in 1632. One of the foremost and seminal thinkers of the Enlightenment, modern biblical criticism,
and 17th-century Rationalism, including modern conceptions of the self and the universe, he came to be considered "one of the most important philosophers—and certainly the most radical—of the early modern period".
While finally getting all my blog posts published on my newly updated website, I realized most of the followers I now have probably didn't read those first posts. It's amazing to reflect on how much the community I'm a part of here has grown since I began publishing these in February! And heck, doing some light proofreading and editing as I uploaded the piece, I realize my voice as a writer has grown too!
My fourth #TranspiringConsiderations piece was a bit snarky, but worked to help apply and communicate emerging trans scholarship from the field of Genocide Studies. You can now find "It's not genocide, it's just sparkling eradication" on my website now:
Putting the last few updates on the seminar I'm presenting today on transing peace and conflict studies...and finding renewed confidence.
Yesterday, I felt so much anxiety and uncertainty. It has been over six months since I last really engaged with any of my scholarly work since I crashed out of my PhD and got ground out of a research career. I thought maybe I couldn't do this kind of thing anymore. Maybe I've lost the thread.
10 minutes into updating my presentation and I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot, I'm one of the only experts in the world on this exact topic 😅😅😅
Anyway, if you're in #SanDiego, you can come to the #KrocCenter at #UniversityOfSanDiego to participate! Or, if you're elsewhere, it will be streamed on Zoom and you can register at the link below!
Apparently I'm talking about transing peace and conflict studies tomorrow? It's been a hot second since I've presented academic work...time to do some panicked updating to my materials 😅
If you are curious, you can watch on zoom as I queer up conversations about peace and conflict in this world!
