Look at this cute couple of Cuttlefish! I created the first illuminated plushie to exchange with another maker and liked it so much I built another for myself. The #pixelblaze controller makes it easy to coordinate patterns.

Two plush illuminated cuttlefish sitting best to each other on a sofa. They display a coordinated series of LED patterns which illuminate their arms and the periphery of their head.

Look at the beautiful LED helix sculpture I got from @graemegets !!! It has three helical strands of very densely packed 2020-sized Neopixel strips controlled by a #pixelblaze controller and it is stunning!!!

I've redesigned my 86mm Fibonacci128 to use SK9822-EC20 HDR addressable RGB LEDs! I have a small batch of four available, if anyone's interested.
These can be driven with a #PixelBlaze, but I don't have a fully-assembled option for that yet. Hopefully soon.
I've updated my @tindie store listing, but can't change the title without breaking the (longer SEO) product link: https://www.tindie.com/products/19486

Video of a hand holding a colorful LED disc. The LED colors slowly and smoothly change and blend in a pattern that evokes organic spiral motion.

Behold, my synchronized #PixelBlaze powered wall! 🤩
From left to right: 32cm Fibonacci512, 50cm Fibonacci1024, 39cm Fibonacci Flower by @maketvee, 31cm Hilbert curve panel by @ItsMrJP.
PixelBlaze by @wizard is doing all of the synchronization work here. Each piece has its own PixelBlaze and pixel map. The F1024 is set as the leader, the rest as followers, all configured in the web app settings.

A video of four colorful LED art pieces hanging on a wall. All four are difference sizes and shapes, but they're all displaying the same pattern. The patterns change, and cycle at the same time. The three on the left are circular, the one on the right is square.

I received this brilliant LED triple helix, a gift from @graemegets! 🤩
This was from a gift exchange with a small group of maker friends. It came with 450 2mm LEDs on three thin strips, driven with a #PixelBlaze by @wizard.
More details 🧵👇
#MakerGiftExchange

A dark 3D printed triple helix with a very thin strip of vibrant RGB LEDs on each helix arm. The LEDs are pulsing smoothly between different colors. The cylindrical helix is completely hollow inside.

An experiment... This evening (20h CET) @eitch and I are doing a live session about programming LED strips with from Electromage.com (@benhencke, @wizard), , @jbangdev, and @Raspberry_Pi

You can watch it here (if everything goes well... ;-) ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eToIXACqSuY

Fibonacci512 is back in stock on @tindie!
https://www.tindie.com/products/23600
Fibonacci512 is a giant, beautiful, sound-reactive 320mm (12.6") disc with 512 WS2812B addressable RGB LEDs surface mounted in a Fibonacci distribution.
Driven with a #Pixelblaze by @wizard, patterns can be written, tweaked, arranged into playlists, etc all via the web UI over WiFi.
I have one in stock now, should have another this weekend.

With much relief I declare the control box electronics of the Technocolour Dreamcoat v3 (beta) complete. I now have a expander board in a 3D printed control box with two buttons and a pot which register in the Pixelblaze UI. Double check what your pull-down resistors are pulling down to, kids! Now it’s a simple (!) matter of software…

So, ich habe mein erstes Projekt. Zwei V3 Module aus den USA bestellt. Light-Strip (, 1 m 144 LED) und Netzteil hier in D bestellt.

Mal sehen, ob das so klappt.

Getting to be friends (and collaborators) with super talented makers has some nice bonus benefits! In addition to the gorgeous Fibonacci heart pendant, @jasoncoon sent me a flexible PCB he designed and assembled (!) that has 128 tiny addressable LEDs laid out in a Fibonacci pattern, along with the vector file to cut out a faux leather cover. The whole assembly looks truly stunning in cuff bracelet form.

A hand showing off different angles of an LED cuff bracelet with a faux leather cover stitched around the edges. The bracelet contains 128 tiny square perforations where 128 RGB LEDs shine through, arranged in a Fibonacci spiral pattern. The LEDs are displaying a rainbow colored animation patterns.

Controlling strips with on the @Raspberry_Pi is a "piece of cake" with the Output Expander and @jbangdev. More blogs and video later after my holidays, but already sharing a "sneak preview" 😉

Rewrite of the pixel stack for All 16 bit per element throughout. Tons more HDR LED options now, and have NS108 and WS2816 LEDs support. Here's a 2" x 2" ws2816 panel at 1% brightness, for example.

Just ordered a new prototype PCB from @oshpark!
This one is a heart-shaped 40mm Fibonacci with 74 HDR SK9822 2mm² addressable RGB LEDs. On the back is a footprint for a Pico from @benhencke, and pads for a necklace battery holder from @geekmomprojects.
I cannot wait to assemble and test this one. I will, of course, post pics & video when I do.

Working on the LED cuff bracelet design. Trying different sizes and shapes for different sized wrists. I plan to add a few more components to the LED matrix for wearable safety and convenience in the next set of prototypes, but I think the structural part of the design is almost done. It's fun to try them all out in follower mode!

A hand stacks six cuff bracelets covered with a hexagon grid displaying illuminated patterns into a pyramid. The patterns on the bracelet are synchronized with each other.

I made a (well-coordinated) LED tote and crossbody bag using the technique of 3D printing translucent tiles onto tulle and inserting them through corresponding holes in the bags' front panels. I sewed long zippers in the lining of both bags to make it easy to access the interior, and attached a flexible LED string behind the tiles with hot glue. A controller inside each bag makes it easy to run synchronized patterns. I'll be writing up a "how to" guide on them for @makemagazine.

Two illuminated purses sewn from black faux leather, one tote bag and one crossbody bag, rest on a sofa. Both bags have front panels containing pixelated grids formed of translucent triangles that each light up in changing colors to form patterns. Each purse displays the same pattern at the same time.

YES! A bit of fiddling with config and some wiring (screw terminals FTW) and I’ve got the first iteration of the Technolcolour Dreamcoat up and running. Only ~200 pixels so far (out of a final ~1600) but all my technology and mechanical design choices seem to be working out. Taking it on its first outing next weekend, so I’m pretty pleased with myself that I’ve managed to get it all working six days in advance.

Finished mapping Squishy Icosahedron's pixel positions (in its unsquished state, at least.) Next steps are to add the sensor board, embed it inside the icosahedron, and code some motion-reactive animations.

An icosahedron with 10 illuminated triangles laid out in a symmetrica pattern on each of its sides displaying colorful animations mapped across its surface.

Working on a more durable LED cuff bracelet design (original on right, new version on left) is the perfect chance to check out the new network sync feature that @wizard added to the controller. Verdict: it is AMAZING!!! 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍

Two side by side illuminated cuff bracelets covered with a pattern of individually Illuminated hexagons display a series of pretty patterns in perfect synchrony.
