You and I both. I buy video online when I can download it in an open-standards format without any #DRM - #RiffTrax being an obvious example. At least I know I can back it up, and play it on any machine or device I want, indefinitely.
Why "everyone" puts up with this stuff is a puzzle. If you explain the problem to them, they understand, but ... they'll still keep consuming the anti-consumer-proprietary alternative.

We did one for the Mario Movie but I don't really know how to release it. Apparently rifftrax is the company name not just the concept so IDK if there's a better word to use for it
