6 months after #ORIF surgery for my badly broken radius and ulnar, I'm back under the bar managing loaded barbell squats and couldn't be happier!
We tried to get back to squats about 2 months ago with the Smith Machine for safety, but I didn't have enough wrist extension to maintain proper form at that time.
It takes a lot of work to come back from such a severe fracture but little by little things are improving! 🚀🚀🚀
Focusing mostly on strengthening for running at the moment.
In a new study published in The British Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers found that while doing either aerobic exercise or strength training was associated with a lower risk of dying during the study’s time frame, regularly doing both — one to three hours a week of aerobic exercise and one to two weekly strength training sessions — was associated with an even lower mortality risk.
I set this up during lockdown and realized it was the best investment of my life. #hard and consistent #training routine during a cut is my number 1 priority to ensure I don't lose any #muscle
Based on my post from yesterday: Nothing lasts forever!
Speaking of BF percentage I'm not in my peek anymore. My focus was more on #musclegain but I'm preparing to change that.
This Pic marks the start of an (at least) 3 weeks #hardcore diet in which I will document my #progress to see how much can change in this time. No miracles are expected. This will be a test run for the next year.
I also reduced my beta blocker to 1 pill/day. I'll do this until my body feels no longer totally out of control. That should be 7-9 days, then I'll start taking it every other day. My heart rate is all over the place still but as long as I sit down if I start feeling buzzy in the head, I feel like it's ok. Once the propranolol is totally out of my system I should be able to ramp my workouts up & my system won't be battling pharmaceuticals. #POTS#POTsie
Did 30 minutes of #pilates and 30 minutes of #WeightTraining. I got energy for days but I'm sore so no rowing. I'm at 3869 steps but it's dark out. Do I dare go out and get my step count up to 5k? Yeah, I think I will. It should only take 10-15 minutes and it will be in my long driveway so I don't have to worry about cars.
Moving slow & shaky this morning and I can't seem to shake off the morning crankies. I hope the food bank is gentle with me today. Feeling fragile. #POTS
Tuesdays are just exhausting for me (food bank) but I still got a petite #workout in this afternoon- a quick 252 stroke #row (listening to #Claud) and 20 minutes of pilates (Jessica Valant, YT).
I'm going to add in #WeightTraining tomorrow. I'm nervous. I think I'm going to start with resistance bands (Therabands). I really don't love any of the YouTube theraband videos. So that's an issue. A majority of them are so slow in pace & instructors sound like they're speaking to feeble people.
