We had a couple of dodgy moments where this owlet got stranded away from the nest box (trying to fly before ready) and had to be assisted back to the box. Seems to be getting the hang of it now!
Shows the value of having people on-site full time and fully engaged.
Nature needs a helping hand.
We have confirmed four owlets, two of which are now fledglings, starting to take regular ‘test’ flights from the nest box.
The only successful ‘indoor’ nest box in Wicklow we are led to believe and the quickest occupation of a nest box according to the self-proclaimed expert! (We’ll revisit that again!)
