What a fine morning for running through the city of Chester and the surrounding lanes for the . Not the result I would have liked but that heat was a killer especially with those hills 🥵🥹

Final run before my half marathon this Sunday, wanted to keep as easy pace as possible and not let hr go too high so a couple of slower km’s while going up hills

4.5 mile progressive tempo run today. 15 minutes warm up hr zones 1/2, 20 minutes tempo hr zones 3/4 and 5 minutes cool down. On the route I used there’s a deceptive climb towards a major road junction which can take it out of you if not careful which is why these days I prefer to drop my pace so I can save heart rate for the final part of the run. Apart from that progress towards Chester Half Marathon going well

Progressive tempo run done today. Started off nice and easy and worked through pace and hr zones to reach anaerobic threshold before finishing off with 5 minutes cool down. #running #halfmarathontraining #temporun #progressionrun #thresholdrun #polarrunning #runningcommunity #runnersofmastodon #oldguysrule

A frustrating day today 😖 following Polar Flow half marathon training plan, today was 6 x 4 min intervals with 13 min w/u, had to stop that as chest strap was reading low and reset 😔 luckily these days I bring my optical arm monitor too. Did a few dynamic stretches and drills before the interval part which was a tough workout. Don’t think I completed more than one fast part without slowing so lots of improvement needed

Been a stressful day so this hour was well needed. Made sure I wasn’t going to let heart rule head so deliberately wore my Nike Invincibles to keep my pace down so in turn heart rate wouldn’t start climbing. All I can say it did the trick and am back feeling a lot better.

First couple of runs since the weekend, keeping pace and hr nice and slow. Tried some nasal breathing on last nights 5k so pace lower than usual for the hr zone. Today’s easy pace 10k was more back to normal

Finished the year with a half marathon which originally was just going to be a 2hr easy run was feeling good around 15km so decided to up the pace and hr to complete the 21km distance. On the whole even though there’s been set backs this year, its been very productive, very enjoyable and cathartic and extremely happy with a total of 2268 km distance ran/walked for 2023

Well that didn’t go entirely to plan. Manchester Half Marathon this morning was going well for the first 16km/10 miles even clocking a 54 minute 10k but then a problem with my left quad meant slowing down drastically to try and prevent pain being unbearable to run so ended up run/walking the last 3 miles. I have a feeling it could have been the choice of footwear caused the problem 🤷🏻‍♂️

Was feeling extra good after a fantastic night’s sleep so decided to push the pace a little today, just making sure heart rate didn’t get too high

Finally got out the door 4 hours after getting up! I’m usually out a little earlier than that but a heavy shower put me off. Happy with today’s result as I’ve not ran over 15k in the 90 minutes I’d allotted for the run
