I've never seen colors like these on a Windy precipitation map before. And rain is indeed hammering down relentlessly here in #SantaMonica#California. It's expected to be worse tomorrow. I'm glad I live near the crown of a low hill, and that nearby streets are draining well so far. I hope everybody under this storm is staying safe, warm, and dry.
Yes, a phone booth, on 4th Street in Santa Monica, 1989. I believe I shot this because telephone booths were becoming obsolete; put out favor not by cell phones but by car phones! #losangeles#santamonica#phones#photography#BlackAndWhite
Here's this evening's casual astrophoto: Saturn in the western sky, with a bit of coastal haze. I believe that's Iota Aquarii to its lower right. I'd hoped to capture some of Jupiter's large moons, or the rings or Titan at Saturn, but that will obviously require clearer skies. For now, I like how obvious the golden hue of Saturn is compared to the purer white of Jupiter.
On Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, 1989, at the entryway to the Third Street Promenade. Of note, the Promenade was in the midst of a fabulous upgrade and facelift that would zoom it into the 1990’s. #losangeles#santamonica#retail#architecture#BlackAndWhite
Massive traffic jam between #Malibu and #SantaMonica#California due to an overturned crane. Apparently it's so bad people on commuter buses are climbing out of the buses and walking to work.
