Kontrollen im Flugverkehr mit Bulgarien und Rumänien weggefallen
Der Schengen-Raum hat zwei neue Mitglieder: Bulgarien und Rumänien. Bei der Einreise entfallen damit die regulären Grenzkontrollen. Vorerst gilt das aber nur an Flughäfen und Häfen. Wer mit Auto oder Zug reist, wird weiter kontrolliert.

Romania and Bulgaria have reached an agreement with Austria to join the European Schengen area of free movement by sea and air in March 2024, the Romanian government said Wednesday.
Belgian #police just forced a brown person in the seat in front of me off the #ICE#Brussels-#Cologne because he didn't bring his #ID card. I think ID is required for crossing borders within #Schengen but it's incredibly depressing that, as so often, they picked a non-white citizen for controls.
Interestingly, they also checked the white person in the adjacent seat but only for the train ticket, not the ID.

@jon I agree with the perspective that we shouldn’t have controls inside #Schengen, but arguing that you have to control ALL options to make it effective is too short. We don’t need 100% solutions and nobody is claiming them.
I don’t think these border patrols are a good or effective measure, but I think the argument that it’s impossible to control every cm is weak and weakens the general point: there shouldn’t be a check and if they do checks, they are ineffective.
