What are these smol geese? They're called Cackling Geese, and will sometimes be found around flocks of Canada Geese. Apparently it's a fun challenge to look for them during bird counts. Though they have the same colours, they stand out by their size (not much bigger than a duck) and proportionately smaller neck and bill.

Also a lifer! About time, I've been hearing about them for a while -- Lost Lagoon, Stanley Park, April 21

Very lucky moment where a red winged blackbird seemed to have learned from the chestnut backed chickadees that it was safe to land on my hand (no food though).

Stanley Park is set to lose almost one third of its trees. Here's why.

> Roughly 160,000 trees are going to be removed from Stanley Park in the coming months, a move the Vancouver Park Board says is both urgent and necessary due to an infestation of hemlock looper moths.

  3. Bought carving made by an artist of a prominent Burrard Nation family, a special request from my in-laws. The souvenir shops have useless silent staff so we went upscale to a gallery with knowledgeable staff.

The long-awaited return of the train is happening later this month, but not all of the cars will be running – and not all children will be able to participate.

According to Vancouver’s Park Board, the are no accessible trains this year, something that was available in previous years.
