"Point-Line-Plane' is which I interpreted as "Kandinsky'. Decided to plot them so I'm counting them as too (128 x 128 (mm) -which is what it showed on my phone and 12 X 12 (cm) - which my laptop showed).

"Between a high solid wall and an egg that break against it, I will always be on the side of the egg. No matter how right the wall may be and how wrong the egg, I will stand with the egg''. Quote by author Haruki Murakami. For (Generative Typography) and (use a new library, in this case p5.brush).

An more full quote, which clarifies just a tiny bit.
"Between a high solid wall and an egg that break against it, I will always be on the side of the egg. No matter how right the wall may be and how wrong the egg, I will stand with the egg. Someone else will have to decide what is right and whats wrong; perhaps time or history will decide. If there were a novelist who, for whatever reason, wrote works standing with the wall, of what value would such works be?"

@knowuh
Thank you! I know what you mean about the type and I did debate that quite a bit. In the end, I went with more legibility, but I still hem and haw about it. With one line commented out it would look like below. Genuary goes so fast, I'm sure I can give it a nice middle ground with more time, but I need to move on to the next prompt :spinny_cat_faster:

"Flocking' is the theme for . I'd never implemented a flocking algorithm before and so I spent more time on the technical side and less on the aesthetic than I'd like. I do like my little fish-like squirmers though.

Small trailing particles in a coral-like palette flow across the screen, aligning as the near and then breaking apart and regrouping.

Making patterns like this is so personally satisfying and calming, my wife has said I've missed my calling as a wallpaper designer. Suffice to say I felt firmly in my wheelhouse making this recursive pattern for (Inspired by Islamic Art).

Only half over, but participating in has been an amazing investment. Don't tell anyone, but I'm several days ahead of schedule. There are 3-4 things already that I have been wanting to explore, some for years. This forced me to get into them, and it's going to open up a lot of possibilities over the next year or more.

AaronReuland,
@AaronReuland@mstdn.social avatar

@bit101 same. I’m currently up to the 24th (w some that need a little polish). Working ahead lets me spend more time on the prompts that really connect w me and ideas I want to explore further down the road.

AaronReuland,

@bornach @bit101 I got 128x128… and also 8x8 and 16x16. Thought I was going nuts at first.

AaronReuland,
@AaronReuland@mstdn.social avatar

@bit101 @bornach yeah, I think I noticed when I used my phone vs my laptop. Someone one discord found the snippet of code which reads ‘ // this is the bit of code that may infuriate people
a=localStorage['g2004jan23']||(localStorage['g2004jan23']=2**(3+Math.random()*5|0));
document.querySelector(' + p').innerText=a+'×'+a+'.'; ‘

Honestly, after awhile I began to view (Use a physics library) with a certain amount of loathing and animosity. Physics engines are definitely not in my wheelhouse (or interest, really). I think the sketch started to reflect this.

My combination of (lava lamp) and (wobbly function day). Combining sine waves to control the radius was pretty fun. Do wish I had tried to implement metaballs.

Code (such that it is) is at: https://openprocessing.org/sketch/2142756

Bigger and smaller wobbly blobs climb the canvas. They are shaded with gradients of black to blue and brown and a green background.

'Anni Albers' is the prompt for . I only vaguely knew her work when I read the prompt and was so glad to be exposed to it more thoroughly. This is particularly inspired by her weaving "Intersecting".

I just went sledding with my kids (10 & 14) in the dark. It may have been the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. Our dog chased us down the hill every time and tried to steal our gloves. You could see the stars. Even the teen laughed. No one took pictures. Hot damn, that was life.

I've been reading Liu Cixin's "The Three Body Problem" so for and I imagined a loading animation for the game "Three body" that appears in the book. It does simulate physics like gravity, acceleration and such, but I make no claim to scientific accuracy.

Code at: https://openprocessing.org/sketch/2137921

@epibyte Honestly, I can’t imagine how they are going to adapt such a sprawling series. So many characters over such a huge timeline. Also, I think they are going to have trouble with how absolutely bleak the story is at times.

Genuary day 6: "screensaver”

This is my homage to the legendary After Dark flying toaster screensaver, from my student days working on 68k Macs. I've challenged myself here to make something resembling a toaster, wings and toast using no external models or textures. The solution is entirely functional, with no state.

https://github.com/jonathanhogg/flitter-examples/blob/main/genuary2024/day6.fl

Shiny, grey 3D toasters fly across a black screen, flapping white wings as they go. Slices of toast occasionally pop up from the toasters.

AaronReuland,
@AaronReuland@mstdn.social avatar

@jonathanhogg Love it! I was really hoping I would see someone do 'flying toasters' for Genuary 6.

For (screensaver), I decided to go slightly retro, show my age, and update the 'classic' windows screensaver 'Mystify Your Mind'.
