I didn't watch the post game from KC, so just saw Mahomes and Reid complaining about Toney being offside. I was super-disappointed that the play didn't count (WHAT A PLAY!!!), but the replay clearly showed that Toney was 100% offside. Easy call, and the right one. It's a high school level error by a professional who should know better. #NFL
The Niners look like they are on their way to grabbing the lead in the NFC thanks to the Cowboys. The biggest challenge for the Niners will be the Ravens in two weeks. Which means that they will almost certainly lose next week to the Cardinals in a classic trap game. #NFL
I often wonder if the best solution isn't simply for each side to walk away from each other. It seems like there would be a lot less division if there was an amicable division of some kind. I realize that it would be incredibly difficult to "divvy things up", but perhaps there could be some sort of devolution of many of the powers related to the most contentious social issues?
E.g. If conservative states want unfettered access to firearms and zero access to abortions, have at it. And progressive states could implement strong firearm laws and open access to abortion. And so on. Just let each side have their way with these issues that go on and on.
But perhaps have the federal government retain control over non-contentious portfolios like highways, etc.
We could do the same thing in Canada. Saskatchewan and Alberta are much more conservative than the rest of the country. I'm so sick of hearing all the debate over guns, the carbon tax, privatized medicine. If they want to go down that path, have at it - with a corresponding loss of related federal funding. And the rest of the country can go further towards gun control, shifting taxation, and improving public healthcare.
@cwgrody@nfl I was just thinking the same thing. I think he got hit four plays in a row? And they just end up kicking the FG anyway. Why multiply the chances of getting Dak hurt?
Having said this, I can't stand the Cowboys, so have at it. 😂
@JeffDanielswpg I'm at the Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church blood donation clinic right now. Highlight so far is "One Love". It will be hard to beat, but I will keep you posted.
First my apologies to everyone on TheCanadian.Social. There was a lot of maintenance that went beyond the upgrade yesterday that was successful. However when we went to upgrade to 4.2 we had a severe crash. Rather than attempting to trouble shoot while down I opted to restore from a recent backup, which itself took a few hours. I deeply apologize for the downtime and any data loss.
My wife got some bad health news last Tuesday, and she's now going through the CancerCare MB intake process.
Our healthcare capabilities in Manitoba are awful. 3 weeks for a CT scan, and 6 weeks for an "urgent" appt with a gynecologist. Multiple prov govts have taken the easy way out by promising low taxes and letting healthcare (and almost everything else) crater.
We need to demand that politicians give us the straight goods, not what we necessarily want to hear.
If you live in Manitoba, ask others who work in or have had to go through our healthcare system. It needs urgent investment, even if we all have to pay a little bit more tax. You, or one of your loved ones will need healthcare sometime soon. And you'll see what has really happened behind the scenes. And you, or your loved ones will wonder "How did it come to this?" Now is NOT the time to vote for a party promising to bribe you with your own money. It's the time to rebuild.
@grivettcarnac Here's a similar idea from a brochure from Manitoba's public auto insurer. We actually have cyclists who deck themselves out like this. I don't totally blame them. I've cycled in several cities in multiple countries, and I have never seen the kind of "cycle-blindness" that seems to infect #Winnipeg drivers. And I drive a lot, in addition to being a cyclist and a pedestrian.
It's the vest that kills me. No cyclist should feel the need to do this.
Ok let's follow my health journey and see how it compares to others in different jurisdictions around the world. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 1 week ago after two rounds of blood tests show my AC1 at 9.6%. It's self inflicted from a sedentary job and an addiction to restaurants. So let's start at the beginning. Fist trip to doctor at a clinic a block away from my office two weeks ago, blood test, ecg and chest x-ray are ordered.Went to nearby lab same day had blood work done #Diabetes
Also sorry to hear it, Mike. However, this comment reasonates at my place.
My wife was diagnosed a couple of years ago, and her family doctor had a heart-to-heart with her on changing her lifestyle. Which forced both of us to do things differently around here - changed our diet, started to get regular exercise, and helped each other get healthier. It wasn't really that difficult to do a lot better and the diagnosis was a wake-up call for both of us.
What is the hand signal for "turn off your car already!"? I have been making key-turning motions at people idling their cars outside the school and playground for weeks and they just stare blankly at me and do nothing.
@mbonsma I half-understand if it's very hot or very cold, but most days it drives me around the bend because it is completely unnecessary and literally costing the driver money to burn the gas. Not only is it harmful to the environment, but they are wasting their own money for no purpose. And when people complain about the price of ⛽ and say they can't reduce their usage...
As a Canadian, I don't follow a whole lot of people who post exclusively about US politics. I care what happens down there, but it can be an unending firehose at times. I appreciate hashtags to make it easier for me to filter out some of it from my timeline.
I try to hashtag some of my niche posting, for example on the CFL so that people who aren't interested can easily filter.
