My biggest gripe with the game so far was the choice the devs made to have the game run at an constant 2.39:1 aspect ratio, causing letterboxing all of the time on 16:9 monitors. Thankfully many others didn't like this and it's an easy fix!

You can tell Ninja Theory have put a lot of effort into this game.

Probably the best thing about the last game was the audio experience, and it's even better in this one. Extra subtle details like evil laughter mixed in with wind blowing, or the little shades of red on screen co-ordinated with when Shadow talks to Senua.

And the visuals are incredible. I've jumped into the Photo Mode a few times already!

@Sobtanian I did a similar thing. Just dropped it and didn’t go back to it for ages. I did find it relatively simple to pick back up again though. The controls aren’t too complex, it’s mostly about timing attacks and dodges if anything.

I really would suggest getting back into it, if only for the second game. The details are amazing. I bet it would look insane on that monitor of yours!

This fight scene was great and the screenshot doesn't do it justice. The combat felt a lot smoother compared to previous game as well.

@danielholt Yeah I am. I think you’d miss out if you weren’t wearing any. The directional audio is brilliant. I think it’s quite clever how they can make some of the voices seem inside your head or even very close to your ears whilst also making Senua’s actions seem a little further away.

Something I've found annoying about Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is that it's not overly obvious when you can safely quit the game without losing progress.

There has been several times when I've exited the game when I think I've passed a major milestone and when I've loaded back in, I've found myself further back than I thought I would be.

There isn't a way to manually save it, so it's especially frustrating when you have to do a major boss fight again!

@danielholt Ah yeah on Xbox the Quick Resume would be perfect for this game. I’m playing it on PC so no such feature.

The combat system in Hellblade can be so frustrating. The way you can only focus on one enemy at a time, and it's even worse when enemies spawn behind you already have multiple in front.

I’ve finished it! Overall I really enjoyed the storyline, but the gameplay was a little frustrating and restrictive. Clearly designed to make it difficult but still enjoyable for the most part.

Looking forward to starting Senua’s Saga.

Back in the 90s, when I bought the first Kerrang! compilation album, it contained a song called Control by Puddle of Mudd.

I took my boom box to Reading festival that year, and we used to sing that song out loud as it has a lyric that reads, “I love the way you smack my ass”

I bought their album based on that one song and really enjoyed it.

Now, over twenty years later, I'm listening to the rest of their work.

Very agreeable grunge.

My 4 year old kid is obsessed with Christmas songs at the moment. He’s currently singing “Deck the Halls” at the top of his voice.

I’m such a Scrooge about Christmas normally, especially when it’s not December, so I initially tried to discourage it but then I thought “Why am I doing that if he’s enjoying himself?” so I stopped.

If he’s happy, I’m happy. ❤️
