Fairly momentous day for me today. Feeling pensive and quiet as a result.

Today, I intentionally let my nursing registration lapse. That is, I am now no longer a nurse.

It feels bittersweet. I was ready to let it lapse. I’d had enough. I’ve spent the last 7 years (and 3 years prior gaining my degree in nursing) working as an A&E Nurse (ER nurse to you yanks) and of course the last few years really haven’t been kind. (1/5)

Tonight task: Set up Xcloud on my Steamdeck.

Shouldn't be too difficult, although it is more difficult than it should be.

For a company that wants it's platforms available on other devices the fact that I can't install something on Desktop mode to just have this work seems shortsighted.

@danielholt This is exactly why I’ve never got into cloud gaming. The input lag just feels awful, and I’d say I’ve got a pretty good connection.

Local gaming or nothing for me.

I've officially requested a place for my son at the local primary school's attached nursery.

His big sister went there. It's on the school grounds. And we get on great with the nursery teachers.

Because it's not run for profit we also don't get hit with ridiculous add-on charges that private places use to earn money.

With the funded hours it'll likely only cost us £50 a term or so.

@andy I only ever played the first one around the time of its original release but never picked up the others. They’re all on Game Pass now so wanted to work my way through them.

Yes I have! Well, at least part of it anyway. Going by the amount of Xbox Achievements I unlocked for it previously, it suggests I haven't finished the game, but did put 6 hours into it. 6 hours that I do not remember for the most part! 😅

@thegamerstavern Yes that’s the one. There’s a definitive edition as well which I believe increases the quality of the graphics.

@thegamerstavern I’m replaying through Tomb Raider with the aim of moving on to Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It’s much longer than I remember it being. 😅

Just found out that Spotify have secretly introduced new “Basic” plans which just removes access to audio books and drops the monthly cost a little bit.

Worth looking at if you’re like me and use Spotify but aren’t the slightest bit interested in audio books on their platform.

@cliffwade @Vivaldi I tried to use Vivaldi, but I stopped because there doesn’t seem to be a simple way of having different taskbar icons for different profiles, so you just end up with several of the same Vivaldi icons and not knowing which one relates to which profile.

I’ve gone back to using Firefox with a little bit of Arc.

Decided to start a replay of Tomb Raider. Crazy to think the rebooted version is already 11 years old.

When I played this the first time around, I thought this scene looked incredible! And although some of the graphics in this game still stand up well today, it’s definitely showing its age!
