Yet it only covers English (UK and American) works?

And Mary Shelly is the only woman mentioned!

And everyone else is White !

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Wow.

Regarding my last re-toot and the AI created pop tune to convince people that (re-introduction of) National Service (conscription) is a good thing, YUP that's PRECISELY THE DYSTOPIAN SHIT I IMAGINED THIS TECH would mostly be used for.

Rishi Sunak [current UK Prime Minister] is such an awkward, socially inept chump.. I can't even..

Every single time he's seen interacting with people outside his own social sphere/bubble it's obvious he has no idea how to interact. Every Time.

Book 19 - 2024 (cont) "Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins - Beauregard Lionett"
Graphic Novel

My one (tiny) complaint is that at 52 pages it felt a little short - but it's a quality bound, small format hard cover, and does have 4 back pages of character development sketches.

I think I'm just used to books that are Sandman / Saga length, and those are prob not representative of the averge Trade Paperback/Hardback comic any more

Book 19 - 2024 'Critical Role: Mighty Nein Origins - Beauregard Lionett'
Graphic Novel

I've enjoyed the #Criticalrole Origins comics - (own all, am slowly reading them).

This gives background to Beau's family life and why she was sent to the Cobalt Soul academy - essentially it's treated like an 'Involuntary Trouble Youth residential School'. Great story, great art, even some character development sketches / evolution. Highly recommend.

I have a notebook (made from a free downloadable template) and at the bottom of every page there are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy quotes.

I don't remember this one but I think I disagree ! 🤣

'Folk Horror' is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the scifi / fantasy / fandom~ discourse~ this weekend*, and it's seemingly also being misattributed a lot?

A narrative happening outside of an urban area doesn't mean it's Folk Horror.

[Mostly around Who discussions of episode '73 yards']

Yup.

The problem with visualizing the near future (in live action) is that if I'm watching something in 2024, set in 2024, and you flash forward to 2046, and everyone is still using the exact same form of mobile phone as they did in 2024, then it feels like the current form is the design ideal which won't ever evolve and.. that's, not how that works .. ?

[This is bugging me and I know it shouldn't - and yet]

Just to clarify for the people overseas: these strange and confusing news stories from the UK are not, in fact, marketing an overdone new satire show.

Yes, the PM got drenched on live TV when calling an election. Yes, he forgot to warn his party it was coming. Yes, he wants to reintroduce conscription. Yes, this is only day four.

We're as baffled as you all are tbh.

@generalising last year today someone tried (and failed) to crash a white car into the front of Downing Street.

Last year !

Feels like several lifetimes ago.!

Behold ROCK CAKES !!

I used the BBC Good Food simple rock cake recipe but did not use Baking Powder nor Baking Soda and instead just used the same amount of *soda water and they came out so light and fluffy !!

[soda water in this case was simple tap water with carbonaton added via a canister and our off brand soda stream machine]

This morning I (almost) invisibly mended hole in my stretch leggings

Just sewed a headband (out of a scuba material!! It's v stretchy and slippy and goes through an Overlocker like silk !? ) and made some Rock Cakes (currently in the oven).

This morning I prepped some French bread (currently proving), and now planning dinner..

Yesterday I struggled all day to watch a 15 min instructional video on youtube

Also TWO loads of laundry

Who the hell am I ?

Managed to do some mostly invisible mending on some leggings today.

Yay!

Fabric is:

  • 89% Ecovro viscose
  • 29% Recycled Polyamide and
  • 5% Elastane

So nice firm vertical and horizontal stretch

Nice quick tutorial here on how to do the hand stitch.

Images of my mend in attached post.

So here are the pictures of my mending on my purple stretch leggings.

No idea why the colours are so drastically different in each picture when it's exactly the same pair of leggings, but hopefully the pictures illustrate the mending of the hole!

I have a copy of the 1970 Vogue Book of Sewing and it is super useful and (but?) whenever I read it I hear the text in the voice of the computer from Star Trek.

(Majel Barrett-Roddenberry)

Faintdreams,
@Faintdreams@dice.camp avatar

@infryq That is an excellent voice to attribute to that book. I heard about the book from a historical sewing costumer (LizScapisim) and so alwlays hear thier voice :)
