Ok, reaching out as Mastodon feels like the most "crafty" of all my social networks (although the knitting on IG runs a strong secong) - does anyone have the ability to laser engrave/burn a design (as an .SVG) onto a baseball bat? I know a few people who dabble but a partially-rounded surface isn't in their skillset quite yet!

Gnashing my teeth because over on Metafilter there is a thread about the efficacy and need for Trigger and Content warnings and more than one ABSOLUTE ASSHOLE is (in effect) maintaining the line that if you cannot handle exposure to anything that might be upsetting you should choose to just not interact with anything and ..

Has anyone written about how textual generative AI feels strangely close to toxic masculinity in some respects? The absolute confidence in everything stated, the lack of understanding of the consequences of getting that confidence wrong for important questions, the semi-gaslighty feeling when it “corrects” itself when you call it out on something. It so often feels like talking to someone one would despise and avoid in “real life.” I’m curious if anyone did some writing on this.

Needed to search for something on my old Twitter (yes that's it's name) account. A certain 'Boy Wizard' Authors tweets are all over my 'following' tab and I am not and have never followed her.

It's a flaming Trashfire and I'm still so angry that a utility millions of people were using, was destroyed simply because the MOST Divorced (currently) Billionaire in the world wanted a new toy.

Today I learned that there is an entire classification of fiction books which are deemed (and advertised as) 'Clean Books' and .. wow

Wow, wow, wow, wow.

Apparently a 'Clean Book' doesn't feature any graphic violence, cussing (swearwords) or sexual situations.

I Cannot Even with this Problematic Can O Worms ...
