I know I’m not saying anything controversial to the people on this platform…. But… I will say it again for the people in the back.

The problem with TikTok is not that it could share a ridiculous amount of personal information with China. The problem with TikTok and the American social media companies are that they are allowed to collect the ridiculous amount of personal information at all.

Hey Congress… if you want to actually fix this… don’t ban TikTok give us some real privacy law.

Because it's , every woman is allowed to propose one (1) new law. It must be a silly, low-stakes one which has little impact on society other than to solve one of your pet peeves.

Mine is: 'make it illegal to illustrate articles about female pleasure with photos of someone fingering a piece of fruit.'

The law I would implement is…

If a woman says no to something — anything… it ends the conversation. No bargaining no adjustments or amendments or guilt.

No means no.

This matches a very well understood “unwritten law” on the other side.

Just had a math moment when I realized why certain generations say things like "stop buying coffee" and the infamous avocado toast BS.

Let's say you spent $30/day, every day, on take out lunch and coffee/tea or whatever. If you stopped completely you'd save ~$11k/yr.

my “ah ha” moment was a couple years ago when a family member was saying this stuff to me I challenged her and we did the numbers and math together. She never gave me this advice again.

We regularly went out for coffee together for a bit after. lol.

Career: My day job is as a technical program manager for a major global cloud services provider. I almost went into software engineering, but I've determined that wasn't for me and went into hardware repair instead. Now, I manage policy, procedure, and the tooling for people in the datacenter who do the repairs of equipment. I've worked way too much in 2023 and hoping to find a better balance in 2024. ​:neofox_scream:​

Politics: Since I talk about them a bit, I should put my politics out there. I spent some time attached to all political belief systems in the US -- When I was young I said thing that were super far lefty. However I spent some time in the far right. They had their tendrils in me when I was convinced that I was a cis-het-dude. Now, I consider myself independent, but most of my beliefs come from the very left side of the scale (just like when I was a kid). ​:neofox_0_0:​

Home Life: I have a pup and a partner that I talk about from time to time. Not much other family connected right now, but maybe I'll reunite with some of them in 2024. Also, I'm very of sad because we know we're nearing the end of life for our puppy; she's dealing with a lot of pain after hurting her back in 2022. ​:neofox_floof_sad_reach:​

Feature Request: A widget for the sidebar that shows your status for any/all server set rate limits such as importing...

It displays each rate limit; with a clear explanation of what triggers it and when it next resets or how many instances you've had...
