Gestrickt wird hier hier natürlich auch noch! Und unabsichtlich thematisch sehr passend, denn das Tuch hieß schon vor dem letzten Wochenende 'Polarlicht':

@una04 @knitting I like the German name actually... Sounds a bit exotic! Looking forward to English version, will definitely be making it. The different sections feel very "balanced," design-wise. Well done! 💞☺️🧶

When you get out of control with organization even though you know it will only last a short time and soon you will have another abandoned tool sadly languishing. Exhibit: Notion workspace that initially had just Stash in it and now has become my full-blown mini-personal-Ravelry-esque repository of knitting data. @knitting (remove group in reply)

Mostly for @KarenStrickholm -- look, I made it to the end of clue 2!

There was a moment where I thought I might catch up before clue 3 came out but then my kid was like, "Mom, I think I might be re-infected" and after explaining immunology for 6 year olds to him (aka, it's probably a new infection because your immune system is usually good at avoiding exactly the same thing right away) then we all got sick again. At least we got lots of sleep this weekend?

Pretty excited to see that second colour. I'm a bit worried it's going to be too variegated for the lace to come, but it looks great in this section!

@knitting

A close up of my Way Leads on to Way shawl in progress. This gives you a clearer the variegated yarn at the end, as well as the lace sections. There are triangles near the colour change, thick garter lines with bobbles before that, a more wavey sort of alternating triangle shape, large holes, garter, then bobbles with expanding ribbing (though the last part isn't too visible at the edge of the photo)

@KarenStrickholm@mastodon.online avatar

@terri @knitting Good morning! First of all your C2 is soooo gorgeous, so rich against that blue, which also pops with the contrast. I remember learning about that combo from my graphic design teacher. On the varigation aspect, I think you'll be able to tell at beginning section of Clue 3 - I peeked ahead. 😉 I'm getting excited to see clues 4 & 5. I love how she paces her clues. I'm part way through Clue 2, will post later. Feel better, and TBC!

What is it I am not seeing??

I fail to understand why Twitter-now-X is necessary anymore. What is it X delivers that Mastodon cannot? Aside from a torrent of ads, increasingly anti-social and manipulative algorithms, and intrusive, unauthorized data scraping? There is scale, but others can achieve that.

Thoughts, anyone?

Jews from Arab lands are the missing piece of the Israeli-Palestinian discourse by American Syrian Jew Lisa Sayegh May 7, 2024

"...Over the past years, I have often been frustrated when I find people do not understand the trauma of the 700,000 Jews from all over the Middle East who were violently expelled from their countries in 1948 and how it resonates today. Pro-Palestinian activists who call out Israel as a “European settler colonial project” omit a critical part of the story that calls into question their claim. They ignore the Mizrahi majority in Israel who are descendants of Jews expelled from Arab lands when Israel was declared a state..."

@RunRichRun @shekinahcancook My Tibetan Buddhist friend told me he can trace his family tree back ~5,000 years! If you ever get a chance in NYC, I recommend a visit to the Metropolitan Museum Of Art's Middle Eastern wing. Really blew my mind - a magnificent collection.

@knitting @fibrearts This is the inside of my sweater. I’m only going to weave in the ends that are visible (so ones near any openings). The rest will be left as they are. I’m hoping that over time, they will felt slightly.

KarenStrickholm,
@KarenStrickholm@mastodon.online avatar

@KatyKnits @knitting @fibrearts Stephen West has a nifty trick where he holds the last yarn end with the new color and knits them together on the row with the new color. Voila! No ends to weave in at the end.

Is your yarn all non super wash? Just curious. Bet you could just tie square knots on those ends. That is a LOT to deal with, but your end product is so beautiful!

KarenStrickholm,
@KarenStrickholm@mastodon.online avatar

@KatyKnits @knitting @fibrearts I think he calls it the Weavin' Stephen. He made a YouTube about it. 😊

KarenStrickholm,
@KarenStrickholm@mastodon.online avatar

@KatyKnits @knitting @fibrearts I've got my own weird way of doing ends. I change midrow because I don't like bump on edges, and I don't have trust in woven end alone. So I knit 1-2" past ends, then I square knot them once my tension is clear, then weave them in, in all directions (sideways, up-down, diagonally). Or, now that I'm starting to wet block, I do it after the blocking.

A new technique also - put the old end on a yarn needle, and weave that end into the new end, continue knitting.

@KatyKnits @knitting @fibrearts Caveat - when it's a color switch, I do that on the edge and do the Weavin' Stephen

I finished my sweater the other day. I had several odd 100g of fibre and wondered what I could do with them. This seemed like a good solution. I just need to weave in the ends 😂

KarenStrickholm,

@alberto_cottica So modular signifies a distinct group withh its. Own operating rules, like one bl9b could be Twitter ND another Ttumblr etc¿
