My sense of smell has gotten a lot better in the last few years (don't ask me why, but probably NOT working in an office). That said, taking a walk around the neighborhood you know how the dogs must feel.

"Ah, Amazon driver with too much cologne passed here an hour ago. PU!"

"Hmm, looks like that teenager girl with way too much perfume walked this way"

"Oh, the neighbors took a shower about 10 minutes ago"

"A baby with a dirty diaper in a stroller passed this way 30 minutes ago... Don't the parents know?!"

i have had "hyperosmia" since my 3rd covid, summer '22. but for me it's also, like, dys-osmia? things smell very strong, plus all fucked up. when ppl start cooking, i hide from the odors.

i echo the words of the ED doc. in primary care, i saw a lot of folks fall out of "normal life" & into car life, couch life, camp life, street life, esp after 2008. also, falling into the struggle for disability insurance coverage. many of them had formerly despised public poors, & were astonished at what happened next, to them.

As discussed earlier, I am currently translating some very antisemitic tales from German folklore in order to showcase the uglier strains of folk belief.

The tales I am tackling first feature "host desecration" - i.e. alleged disrespect against blessed altar bread. The motivation of the Jewish characters in these tales do not make any sense at all - why would they bribe Christians to bring them some blessed hosts from the rite of Eucharist? Yet it was prevalent belief among Christians that Jews were very eager to do so just so that they could express their alleged hatred of Jesus Christ (and thus all Christians).

one time after Mass the priest kept everyone back before leaving, to report an incident that happened at the cathedral.
a scruffy guy sat in back, got in trouble for eating a banana during mass, was rude, etc.
he went through the communion line like everyone else, taking the host in his hand like everyone else, then heading out the door.
he was stopped by folks nearby & made to reveal he had put the host in his pocket. it was rescued & brought back to the altar.

If someone would start selling those nifty suffragette pantaloons you can bicycle in I bet they could sell a bunch.

But every skirt in stores looks like a horrible tube that will rutch up on your tush as you walk like an handsy subway creeper; you try to walk in little tiny steps. Sitting without flashing? Some kind of mysterious party trick.

Then there's a whole article in the fashion section hand wringing if skirts that aren't tight are "too conservative"

    If that bothers you? Pantaloon!

I was just robbed for the first time in my life.

Next to a grocery store, two young men asked me if I could change €20 for them. I rummaged in my wallet, and one of the guys distracted me by rummaging in his wallet and discussing what kind of change he needed.

Then the other guy ripped all my banknotes out of my pocket, and they ran away. Since it was dark, I didn't notice any useful details. I reported this to the police, but don't expect to see those €300 again.

i daresay 100% of clinicians agree.
it's nice if important results are flagged in the doc's inbox, so we get to those first.
unfortunately, many "abnormals" are insignificant, except in very rare cases, which are crazily overrepresented on medical (mis)information internet sites.
hope you have a clinician who has TIME to explain what it means, what it doesn't mean, & what's the next step.
sometimes there's no TIME, because the next guy's results were a lot worse than yours...
