Some years back, I decided I was going to learn to draw. I had never been able to draw, so I started with just copying existing images. I drew them the same way I do archaeological field drawings: using a grid and drawing where the thing I want to draw intersects with the grid. (cont.)

I know no one is waiting for another rando eclipse watcher’s chaotic thread of amateurish and out-of-focus phone camera photos accompanied by random, disjointed thoughts, but I’ll give you mine anyways :P This was my first total eclipse and I was… not ready. I’ve seen partial eclipses and pictures of eclipses. I’ve heard people talk about seeing eclipses. None of that truly prepared me for the actual in-person experience.

Today is my 20th Ameriversary! (😲) I moved to WNC from Antwerp and I had never seen so much nature in my life. I recently noticed I have a lot of pics from that time in which I'm standing in the wilderness in city clothes, cause those were the clothes I had. Here's a few of them.

When I boarded, I was told something was wrong with my cabin so they moved me into a suite. It's pretty ridiculous! The bathroom is three times the size of the regular one. There's a walk-in closet! They gave me fresh flowers! The robes are WAY fluffier!

I’m not really a holiday card person, but since the winter of 2020, I’ve been offering my social media friends personalized handwritten cards to maybe, hopefully brighten the darkest days a bit. In these cards, I tell people things I like about them. This works best for people I know at least a little bit, but nonetheless, I’d like to also offer this here, where I don’t have as many friends yet. I promise I’ll do my best to personalize, even if we don’t know each other.

Page 2 of smol drawing practice: owls that live around here. My smol owls are based on drawings by Joris de Raedt in the book on the right. Those full-page drawings are so detailed, I couldn't fit all the detail in the smaller version. I found reducing the detail and just trying to reproduce the general vibe of all the different feathers quite challenging!

My #Babylon5 Blu-Ray watch reached Confessions and Lamentations (aka the plague ep) today. I've watched it a few times since the start of the pandemic and it does not get easier :-| (screen grabs NOT from Blu-Ray; it looks WAY better but I don't have a player for my PC so can't screenshot :P )

Today's #BloomScrolling offering: blooming kwanzan cherry trees I took pictures of 7 years ago (to the day). I adore kwanzan cherry trees, but I don't know of any near my home I could conveniently walk to right now, so I haven't seen any up close in a while (the pictured trees are at a work location I haven't been to since the Before Times)

I can confirm that the UK version of the #Babylon5 blu-ray set comes in even shittier packaging than the US version. Why would you do this, WB??
