Shoutout to all my tired and weary pagans coming into Imbolc with no plans and no energy.

Imbolc has always been a quiet holiday to me. About the almost unseen first buds of spring. It's not the riot of color, the explosion of life. It's that finally light at the end of a long dark tunnel.

It's ok to simply note the day. My own plan this year is to light a candle. That's the extent of my planning.

Bit of a pain flare meant I did not especially want to move today. I know moving is good for me. I just did not want to.

But I did go for my little walkies, down to the beach. The ocean is SO much calmer today than it had been. Got some sunshine on my face.

Glad I went, I always am. Small habits, building momentum... taking care of myself like the silly little tamagotchi I am, lol

Did some sketch painting tonight. It's prep for a Solo RPG called Apothecaria. Decided to paint the little cottage my Witch is gonna inherit.

I think it's done, gonna let it fully dry, then maybe go in with some shadows but we'll see. Don't wanna over-work it. The point is to be a quick sketch.

Foodie friends!

I've been wanting to make a Beef Wellington ever since I had one at The Rubens in London (seriously best meal I've ever eaten, and most expensive, lol)

All recipes call for prosciutto though and when I make it it'll be for someone who eats kosher-ish.

What else could I use? Seems weird to wrap a beef roast in pastrami. And I am struggling to think of something with that cured, salty buttery-ness that would work.

So, I'd considered backing a new Kickstarter Farming Sim called TALES OF SEIKYU until I read that they are locking the option to play as a female protag behind a stretch goal.

And not even the FIRST stretch goal. It's locked behind the 200k goal (game is 40k).

The key features I like:

• pleats across the bodice
• empire waist (and the skirt gathers there)
• square/lower neckline

Will need to fit a 58" bust

I saw it in an ad for a "Jane Austen dress" and it defo has those vibes. But not in my size :(

I have started the epic shawl project!

Yarn is a hand-dyed BFL/silk from the UK.

Pattern is a modified Rubina Lace Shawl by Anna Victoria

3700 MIYUKI rocaille beads have been acquired (cleaned out the shop, lol). I estimate needing another 1300 to finish the project.

Alright, friends with an eye for design... need your advice!

I'm making a handbag. Outside is very classy. Harris Tweed, leather, brass hardware.

I can't decide what lining to use.

Originally I got the dark green fern fabric for the lining.

Recently I got the lighter green with bees for another project but could repurpose (I bought lots).

I think I like that it matches the clasp. But... I think the darker fabric is more classy. And then, the lighter is more fun.

So tonight I wound the yarn for my heirloom shawl and then calculated the beads I think I'm gonna need for it...

5000 beads, y'all. A POUND of beads. The beads will weigh slightly less than the yarn used... lmao

Polygel nail update for anyone who was interested:

Other than the initial breakage of the tips (not my nails but the extension) which was most likely due to my inexperience and not making them thick enough, the nails lasted well! I could have left them on, but I was wanting something different. No lifting or peeling.

Filed them off with ease (I have an efile) and then prepped my nails which took way less time. My cuticles always behave themselves when my nails are done.

We exist, we can rest. We do not have to justify it. And framing it as a way to be more productive later just misses the point in the most depressing way. Capitalism and the Puritan work ethic gonna kill us all.

Vacation for me means holing up in an apartment somewhere else and just checking out of my life for a bit. Currently enjoying a big storm on the west coast of Washington in a tiny little fishing town. It's lovely.

Finished the crochet doll! As always, sewing the little bits on is my least favorite part. I crochet very tightly so getting the needle thru is tough.

But I took my time and I'm generally pretty dang pleased with how it turned out!

Can we talk about burnout and/or boredom in the craft?

It feels like I haven't been expanding myself lately. I spend a good bit of time preparing events for our community every month with three other members. Our paths are all different so we take turns leading the events. I partially started doing this thinking I would find others who follow a similar path to mine and we could do group work together (not as a coven but as a circle).

Lot of thoughts (not good ones) rolling around in my head as I think about this trend of right-wing liars to label men being considerate, kind, or compassionate to their (women) partners as gay. Speaking to an audience they have brainwashed into believing that a man being gay is bad (it's not).

There's a very malicious movement happening here to normalize men being emotionally abusive to their wives/gfs.

Lots of thoughts... none of them good.
