Oumuamua missed, but the backup shots are still inbound and appear to be adjusting course based on the first shot’s gravimetric readings. No prizes for guessing what it was in that 1936 broadcast that got the neighbours so riled up. Nobody likes to see their local volume become a Nazi bar.

The OpenOCD Pubic License: you may fork this project to add support for your chip, but if you abandon your port without ever pulling main, nor ever contributing your changes back to main line, forcing developers to keep seven different forks of this OpenOCD installed, any developer has the right to lift you by the pubes and deposit you in the bin.

There were seven of us. The planner, the face girl, the electronics witch, the mechanic, two catgirls to run distraction on the guards, and of course me, the getaway van driver.

We went in through the loading dock, the planner knows when the classics are still the best. Electronics took out the cameras, catgirl one womaned the loading dock to deflect security while two, face and mech headed down to the underground levels. By the time they reached the vault the electronic locks were down, and the mechanicals lasted less than five minutes.

The prize was right where our mole said, ten tubes of single-dose permanent depilatory cream and the manila folder containing the only copy of the Formula. Given the existential threat this posed to them, I don’t know why Gillette didn’t just destroy it after they acquired the inventor. Anyway, hit me up if you want an advance sample, I still have half a tube. We go to market in eight months so don’t forget to divest any P&G shares before then.

@jpm what grade of solder are you using. I’ve been told I ought to be using smaller balls¹ when soldering Quad Flat Impossible packages.

I’ll admit that as a futurist my record is poor. I was wrong about blockchain¹, and I was also wrong about AI². Steeling myself to be wrong next about Electric Cars as a climate change solution³, and, later, Mars colonisation⁴...

Mr 19 snapped the hinge on his headphones. Fixed them by (a-la Kurtis from Cutting Edge Engineering :sayori_like: ) “Building up the bore with weld and machining it back to spec”. In my case I used a plastic knife and ABS filament (white), painting the result black. I didn’t quite get the new hinge axle straight (I’ll have to get a 1mm line borer!) but the headphones are back together and still fold!

Installed debian netinst on a single board computer (had jack of ubuntu when it started saying "hey there's these security updates you didn't pay for). No curl, no git, no tmux, no avahi. I love it, a proper OS where you only get the bloat you ask for. Fingers enjoying the apt-install dance as I get this board set up to be a platformio dev helper. Remember, melting the USB ports in a scratch board beats melting your dev machine!

@dmakovec I'm not opposed to ubuntu having a "software is free, pay for support" model---the prophecied stallmanian utopia---I just don't like being nagged for any reason.

My main ubuntu machine is a beater laptop permanently docked on my desk as a build machine running jammy (22.04) which is the latest LTS. I changed to ubuntu as my default "I need a scratch linux box quick" boot stick when debian reached "useless on PCs because the wifi drivers are in non-free, so a freshly installed laptop has no network" but I'm tentatively changing back.
