The fact that millions of people apply for an exam to gain access to education and only few hundred or thousand get the access will never cease to horrify me

I don't understand how in 21st century, post-internet people can still defend the notion of gatekeeping access to education via entrance exams

The way gatekeeping for access to education has been normalized and desensitised folks in accepting it as a way of life since centuries is astonishing

"I am not burying myself in a narrow particularism. But neither do I want to lose myself in an emaciated universalism. There are two ways to lose oneself: walled segregation in particular or dilution in 'universal'

— Aimé Césaire's Letter to Maurice Thorez

This reluctance of not wanting to lose oneself in emaciated universalism & deepening & coexistence of all particulars makes me think how academic research can erase the particular in favour of continuity of a cannon

Just realized writing a good design brief has parallels with project based learning.

Design educators have y'all come across literature that specifically focuses on developing your craft to write good design briefs from scratch (as opposed to reframing them)

From an estimated 86,200 in homeschooling at the start of 2023 to 97,600 by the April to July summer term

Only 4% of parents said health concerns over Covid were the main factor behind their decision

Homeschooling during COVID times was a dystopian chaos

Homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic brought about a dystopian chaos for many families. The conventional school experience, characterized by lively classrooms and face-to-face interactions, underwent a stark transformation.

@osma It depends on design of voting system. FPTP is more dangerous than single winner Approval. Single Winner Approval is more dangerous than Multi Winner Approval (in thousands), similarly election every 5 year more is more dangerous than election every six months. With direct democracy stakes will be low, and less chance of coercion.

Accidents due to traffic: Addressing Road Safety

Approximately 1.5 lakh people die due to road accidents every year in India. While one may attribute road accidents to traffic, narrow roads, and bad driving, the main underlying reason is the presence of heavy vehicles, particularly cars, which occupy a significant amount of space, leaving little room for pedestrians and bikes.
https://iambrainstorming.github.io/chapters/road-planning-of-cities.html#accidents-due-to-traffic-addressing-road-safety

amiya_rbehera,
@amiya_rbehera@mas.to avatar

Car-centric roads also require more maintenance, increasing the likelihood that roads will not be repaired, so more accidents. By promoting the use of public transport, such as buses, accident rates can be drastically reduced.

The Law of Dismissing Return, the Solow Model, and the Steady State: Why Unlimited Growth is not Possible

The Nature of Capital:

Consider physical capital as the backbone of economic progress – roads, machinery, and infrastructure. However, this capital, much like any other asset, is subject to wear and tear. The more it is utilized, the more it depreciates.

amiya_rbehera,
@amiya_rbehera@mas.to avatar

The Solow Model introduces the notion of capital rusting or depreciating, making it essential for nations to make choices regarding the upkeep of existing capital.

amiya_rbehera,
@amiya_rbehera@mas.to avatar

Its further shit because of this:

The Role of Education and Labor:

While the Solow Model emphasizes the importance of capital, it also acknowledges that growth isn't solely dependent on it. Education (e) and labor (L) are two additional variables that influence economic growth. In the pursuit of sustainable development, nations must consider these factors, recognizing their contribution to overall economic well-being.

amiya_rbehera,
@amiya_rbehera@mas.to avatar

They invest in Ram Mandir and statues instead of education, and they wants to change the history, teach Ramayan as history, and spread as much disinformation and hatred they can.
