This turned into a pretty long answer because I have a lot of thoughts on this subject, I’m kind of obsessed with it actually. Thank you to whomever asked it, hang in there.

There's no doubt shit's fucked. That's out of our day-to-day control. You do what you can to fight the evil shit and you find what joy you can. And our little ape brains are fried by modern life but otherwise the experience of being human has always been this way. Certain human things are constants, or at least seem to have been so far (because everything does change eventually). You can read 3000-year-old texts and they're complaining about most of the same shit we are. What I'm saying is that there's parts of life that didn't come out of capitalism, that are much older, primordial even, and that's where a lot of joy resides. And suffering! But joy too. I too feel like I'm losing my mind while the world is burning, I think everybody does. But isn't it absolutely fascinating? Isn't it beautiful in a horrifying way? You can't let capitalism take everything from you. You have to find ways to rise above it in your mind and heart. We are better than what it tries to make us. That's why there's still any hope at all. Love as much as vou can while you're here. Love everything, or try at least because if nothing
else it makes things easier. Amor fati is what the Stoics called it: to love one's fate as if you chose it yourself. Embrace the madness you were born into. Live intentionally. You are a creature of the 21st century and the things you're bored by every day would make Plato shit himself. You are perfectly shaped for this historical moment, you wouldn't belong in any other. We get to see what comes next, and that's always also a scary prospect but people can get used to almost anything and those human constants will still be there for you. We get to take care of each other in dark times. If you can find community somewhere you'll be all right, and if you can't there are ways to deal with that, too-god knows loneliness has always been with us, even in very communal societies there's that loneliness that seems to separate you from every other person and thing. But the separation is an illusion. You're part of something inconceivably big and unspeakably beautiful and that might not always make things easier but it does help if vou let it.

With power now cut in Gaza and medical supplies, water, food & fuel blocked from entering, the situation at Gazan hospitals becomes even more dire than it already was. 5000+ wounded and now how are they supposed to be treated? The Israeli military is creating a Hell on Earth. This is a terrible situation that’s going to get worse fast. The difference between 1,000 deaths and 10,000 or 100,000 or a million could be a few days of bombardment and siege. The ground invasion hasn’t even begun yet.

"The situation in Gaza is catastrophic; the hospitals are overwhelmed. The number of wounded is extremely high - there is a constant influx into all the hospitals in the Gaza Strip. The medical teams are exhausted, working around the clock to treat the wounded. The bombardments are very intense. Entire buildings are being destroyed, including one last night right next to the MSF office. Sometimes people receive a text message in the middle of the night telling them to evacuate their homes, as happened to some of our team members in Gaza. You have to wake up your children in the middle of the night and leave your house, without taking any of your belongings, to get to safety. But very often people don't know where to go; they find themselves outside in the middle of the night, under a hail of bombs. Where can they find safety? The latest estimates put the number of displaced people at around 200,000, mainly people who have received those SMS messages and whose homes have been destroyed. They need everything: water, a place to shower, food, a mattress to sleep on... in short, these are varied but basic needs.
