@forpeterssake @bookstodon I had no idea! I did not update the streaming site I curate and I'm glad I did not!

I’m going to recap ’s “An American in Austen” over at Excessively Diverting (https://excessivelydiverting.substack.com/). The movie is on tonight at 8 p.m. EST and the issue will be out n a few days.

Premise: “Harriet, who thinks that no real man compares to Mr. Darcy, is transported into Pride & Prejudice and gets an unexpected chance to find out.”

@forpeterssake @bookstodon “An American in Austen" is also vaguely close to "Lost in Austen" where this time a Brit discovers a secret door that takes her to Meryton where she swaps places with Lizzie who heads to the 21st C. “Lost in Austen" is fun if such things entice you.

Did anyone catch last night on Hallmark? No? Have I got you covered!

Premise: Lilly, a hopeless romantic and literary enthusiast, is surprised when her wish to talk to her favorite author comes true and herself appears in her life.

@forpeterssake @bookstodon I go into these not expecting much because they /are/ Hallmark movies. I would not rewatch "Paging Mr Darcy" but I would watch “Love & Jane" again if I happened to catch it on TV. I AM excited for the new period adaptation of which is the last movie of the month.

If you want more facts on Day, read the Austen and Issue 3 here: https://open.substack.com/pub/excessivelydiverting/p/austen-bronte-issue-3-pride-and-prejuduice?r=1ep55&utm_campaign=post&utm_mediumLoveuarywWelcome=true. I also update on Hallmark Channel's Loveuary theme which for the month of February are all Austen inspired movies and I'll be recapping them via the newsletter.

Happy Day! P&P was published on this day in 1813.

Some facts!

  • Originally titled "First Impressions”
  • P&P's name comes from Fanny Burney’s “Cecilia" where the phrase “P&P” is used numerous times
  • Novel was finished in 1797
  • It has sold over 20 million copies and has never been out of print

@EricBranse @bookstodon I cannot recall how many times I’ve read P+P. I usually give it a whirl, and Austen's other books, every couple of years. I'm a HUGE sucker for book and movie/TV adaptations!

You can “talk” to #JaneAusten via generative #AI.

(I asked "Jane" who was better: Darcy or Bingley and the answer “she" gave was illuminating. :) )
