It's terrible when you realize the death rate from COVID was worse in the US than basically the entire developed world due directly to being incompetent.

They also successfully killed a huge swath of their voters by turning masks and vaccines into a political issue.

1/This morning I have come on social media to see a deluge of videos documenting the militarized police in this, supposedly, "free" country with the freedom of speech enshrined in the Constitution, brutalizing peaceful protesters simply because the government doesn't like their speech.

This makes my fucking blood boil! As if funding a #genocide was not bad enough. Now, the government has deemed anyone who doesn't wholeheartedly support it to be a #Nazi.

2/I'm honestly, ashamed to have to call myself an American citizen this morning. I thought our country was better than this. Now, I am coming to learn the reason for that is the propagandized "History" we are all taught in school. We have a sordid [not all that distant, either] past of being on the wrong side. I just went into my display settings on Android and on the display size option I ticked it up one spot above default. I've got to say I highly recommend it. I'm having a harder time reading without my glasses, so the extra size of the UI really helps.

So.

To reduce social anxiety I keep a little set of digital flash cards to help me memorize names. It worked great. Recently I got a book with photos of all the staff at both buildings so I memorized them all. (I like memorizing things)

All week I've been saying hello to people Now some of them think I'm an extrovert.

😨 No. I just wanted to check that I had the correct pronunciation.

No wonder so many stories have ideas that names are magical. This is too much power and I do not want it.

The Pixel Buds Pro are definitely worth the upgrade. I've been using mine for over a year, and they are the best Pixel Buds yet. It's also amazing to me how they are still being updated with new features over a year later. The only complaint I have is that they don't stay as tight in your years as the old Pixel Buds with the fin. They require periodic adjustments.

Smartspacer is a supercharged version of Google's At a Glance widget.

Google's At a Glance widget can already do a lot of things like show you timer and stopwatch info, flashlight reminders, and more, but it has limited support for showing info from other apps. It can show the status from ridesharing apps like Uber, doorbell alerts from Nest, safety check countdowns from Personal Safety, fitness tracking info from Adidas Running and Strava ... but not much else.
