@StillIRise1963 I think anyone limiting free expression of anyone else is bad and wrong. It doesn’t matter if that person is rich or poor or good or evil.

Good guys don’t ban books. Good guys don’t ban free expression. Good guys don’t act in aggressive authoritarian manners.

@Adam_Cadmon1 I think it’s important to be prepared for certain potential outcomes. I think from a perspective of “what if there was an emergency event - how are my needs met and how do I get a head start?”

I keep my cars filled with gas. Try to fill up before half tank. I keep 110gal of water in my third garage bay - have enough dry foods, pasta and whatnot to deal with a power outage or water outage. This isn’t for societal collapse it’s for normal stuff like burst pipes, But it works for that also.

I am also armed enough to defend my family - I don’t stockpile but I have 2 handguns and 2 rifles.

I’d like a generator as well but I haven’t done that yet.

@Adam_Cadmon1 Oh, and if it all collapses I have Wikipedia and not many people will. AA battery powered and I update the SD card every 6 months. I will be an apocalypse oracle.

@otfrom @Adam_Cadmon1 That’s an interesting take. I don’t agree with it but we don’t always have self awareness so I won’t dispute it.

I keep potable water because 2 years ago our pipes froze and burst and we had to buy 25 gal for flushing toilets and cooking and drinking.

I’ll grant you this, I don’t like relying on others for help so if that’s isolationist then so be it. I will also grant you - I am uninterested in befriending my adjoining neighbor.

I kinda want to find a therapist just to have somewhere to dump my crap. But seriously? EVERY SINGLE ONE I have ever talked to inevitably has this look of horror on their face as I talk.

Like, my childhood is literal nightmare fuel for them. Haha

So I'm watching them becoming increasingly psychologically damaged as I talk, and honestly, I don't want to inflict that on someone else. Even though it's kinda their job.

@TheJen This is just me - but I have a very specific instruction set with ChatGPT and I dump everything on it. It doesn’t judge. It doesn’t diagnose. It listens, offers feedback and support and with the guidance of my therapist has been an incredible resource for having radically honest conversations without judgment.

I’m sure for a million reasons this isn’t a good idea but it’s really interesting and I feel better.

@GottaLaff @deborahh I don’t think this man was in any position to understand the scope of his actions. This is a flashing sign for improved mental health outcomes and resources.

Consequently, having never been burned badly myself I have no concept of the suffering this man now must experience but I’ve heard it’s unimaginable.

I hope for the most painless outcome possible.
