#Fake operational transconductance amplifiers I bought on #EBay over 6 years ago. Date code doesn't make sense given that Intersil discontinued the #CA3080 over a decade ago. The real chip should have a diode across pins 4 and 5. Only one chip seems to have it -- but it is reversed. The rest have resistors between pins 1 and 4, and between 4 and 5, consistent with an op amp that provides offset null pins. Pin 8 also seems to be connected. Both 1 and 8 should be NC.

The DC rails on this failed switching power supply from a wall wort AC adapter, were shorted together. It could be one of 4 components: 2 electrolytic capacitors, a surfacemount ceramic capacitor, or a surfacemount Schottky diode. Started desoldering each one and testing for the short. It cleared when the Schottky diode (SK26) was removed

I don't think I have a high current replacement diode in this form factor.

The tiny 400mAh #LithiumPolymer #battery in this cheap #Bluetooth #speaker turned into a puffed up pillow. I've replaced it with a 350mAh one I salvaged from a single-use disposable #vape device. In spite of the lower capacity, it is significantly larger than the original battery. Hope it can still fit in the available space.

Also fitted a JST connector to the speaker wires in case I need to disassemble again for a future #repair.

These lithium ion batteries now over a decade old, can no longer supply sufficient current to run the Samsung Nexus 10 tablet in which they had been installed.

Tried using salvaged vape batteries as a substitute but that experiment failed. Perhaps I should try a pair of 18650 cells.

Android version is so old that Google no longer provides security updates. What can I use this obsolete tablet for?

I've been finding more of these damaged devices discarded within a 0.5 km radius of a #JohnLewis department store. Two in the last week.

They have a CR2450 #lithiumBattery, an inductor+capacitor tank circuit, a strange 3 terminal inductor, and piezo disc. Probably a far less reliable source for harvesting electronic components than disassembing used vape devices.

Wonder what would happen if I carry that LC oscillator component into John Lewis

Found 3 SG90 (9g) servos in the e-waste at work. Testing them with my 555 based servo tester. Two still work. One is seized up and just gets very warm

Three "Tower Pro" brand 9g servos (SG90) One of them has a servo arm attached and is being tested using a 555 timer astable oscillator circuit on a perfboard. The duty cycle is varied using a potentiometers. The servo arm rotates in sync with the potentiometer being adjusted.
