@camstonefaux@furry.engineer

Hello there! I'm Camstone, a friendly & charismatic red fox with a magnificent mustache. As a hopeless romantic & all-around nice guy, I'm proud to be part of the welcoming #furry #Anthropomorphic community.

I have a diverse set of interests and accomplishments, including being a Level 62 Scientist/Mechanical Engineer/Inventor. In the furry world, I proudly embody a hopelessly romantic Red Fox persona & enjoy #Fursuiting. But sorry, I don't play any video-games or take unsolicited art commissions. Also a “disavowed therian,” married, #dad, and yes-heterosexual (OMGee- a furry heterosexual ally?! yup.)

BTW #fox = #faux = #fawks = #phaques

#BLM #greymuzzle #furrygeezer #alt.liestyle.furry #secondlife

😭 for nearly a year i've had nothing but problems uploading videos to my instance. about 25% of the time it would work after a dozen retries. other times it would fail completely.

i knew it had something to do with ffmpeg, but upgrading ffmpeg to the latest version made no difference.

painful lessons learned:

  • /live/app/models/media_attachment.rb (line 101) - 'loglevel' => 'fatal' can be changed to 'verbose' to reveal more output from the sidekiq log

  • while it is true you have the latest version of ffmpeg installed, no one promised that mastodon would see it

  • i had a ten-year-old ffmpeg 2.x install lurking in /opt/local that mastodon was using, and completely ignoring my more recent version, all thanks to an errant PATH in my ancient bash_profile 😩

Good morning everyone!! :) I hope you all have a good and awesome weekend.

Your girl is gonna relax and read as usual. Reading is awesome!!!

Please remember to make time to recharge and center yourself, you deserve nothing but kindness and love always.

Today we are gonna be talking about the Graveyard Orbit.

Also known as a junk orbit or a disposal orbit, a graveyard orbit is a type of orbit where some satellites are transferred at the end of their operational lives to prevent them from colliding with operational satellites and creating space debris. For satellites orbiting in geostationary or geosynchronous orbits, the graveyard orbit is typically located a few hundred kilometers beyond the operational orbit. To transition a satellite to this orbit, a series of maneuvers are conducted using its remaining fuel at the end of its mission. The implementation of graveyard orbits is part of broader space debris mitigation strategies.

I will never understand people who upload someone else's art as if it's their own after deleting the background from it, and then double down when accused of the art theft...going so far as to reply to a comment on the original piece alerting the original author, by saying "no I didn't!" while still literally having the stolen piece in their gallery still.

Just...11/10 logic, really and truly.

Today I realized that Costco are selling these 1TB SanDisk Extreme Go external SSDs for less than the cost of one of today's "AAA" video games. (US price; they're playing exchange rate tricks to take more money off people in UK and Australia and NZ)

The SSD has infinitely more value than that game, and you don't download a 100GB "patch" to get the SSD working.

camstonefaux,
@camstonefaux@furry.engineer avatar

@yakkoj yeah, except that they’re having issues with data integrity, apparently. Check Reddit for additional details.

My feeds are filled with people who have COVID right now.

Please test before you get together with friends and family (especially vulnerable people like those with diabetes or those over 65) and stay home if you have symptoms.

In the U.S., you can still get four free tests at https://special.usps.com/testkits

And if you've stopped wearing a mask while you're out running errands, it's a good time to start again.

@grammargirl @DeltaWye Still masking & just got test kits in the mail. Teachers at local Northern VA high schools have been affected!

@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

Okay, I really like 35mm. I’ve been shooting 50mm as my main lens for a long time, but recently I’ve been finding it too long for anything but portraits.
With 35 I can kind of just point and shoot inside rooms and still get something interesting and useable.
Having the additional context of the scene is really nice.

A man standing at a backlit bar
A funny little mushroom man
A stack of pizza boxes

camstonefaux,
@camstonefaux@furry.engineer avatar

@lupomancer - What's your camera's sensor size? I mean, maybe you already know this - but if you're shooting with an APS-C (DX) sensor, there's a 1.4-1.5x magnification factor, so in 35mm film (or FX) terms, a 35mm lens is essentially a 50mm in FX. The human eye said to be the equivalent (in FX) to a 42mm lens (or 30mm for DX) - but it's a hard thing to pin down, as our eye is a curved spherical receptor vice a flat rectangular one used in cameras - so our depth of field and perception is so different. Also the way we process perspective is different due to the differences in parallax and the way we "post process" the image in the brain. But yeah, love the images... ever tried a perspective shift lens?

Trump knows what he’s doing when he calls his enemies “vermin” in his speeches and online. He’s dehumanizing them. This has happened to my community twice in my lifetime: once during World War II, and again during the pandemic. It is so dangerous, and Trump knows it. He’s preparing his base to do things that you can’t do to other humans, only to subhumans. Be warned. Be vigilant.

To be fair, Trump says a lot thats bigoted, racist, untrue, narcissistic & megalomaniacal, and /still/ leads the GOP. So what does that say about the GOP?
