"Unfortunately, we have gotten to a point of no return. It's sad, but that's what it is. Global warming is a serious problem," Francis replied. "Climate change at this moment is a road to death."
@pvonhellermannn All Catholics, and actually Christians in general too, should read his Enzyklika laudato si. You can agree or not with the Church’s position on many issues but that paper produced by Francis is accurate in its evaluation of the current state of our planet.
"I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity."
They are using the premise of a #spiritualWar to pave the road for the #UnitedStates to become the #Christofascist#theocracy they so jubilantly pray for—and intimidating students protesting the violence in #Gaza and trying to claim campuses for their own brand of #Christianity is their latest battleground.
Sometimes when we walk, we pass by this statue of Jesus at the Queen of Angels Church right off Welles Park in Lincoln Square. We often call him Bangra Jesus. Put on some Bangra music and look at the photo - ROFL
Have said it over and over, time after time: politics is the bane of Christianity. Politics is not a feature of heaven. The wolf in sheep's clothing today is a politician in a pastor's suit.
#RobSchneider, whose claim to fame is a single, mediocre skit on #SNL, is a newly-converted #Catholic, so naturally he's an unmatched expert in #Christianity whose authority is beyond reproach. It makes perfect that this objectively unfunny slug would want to make a documentary about the well-known hoax, the Shroud of Turin, to celebrate his new expertise! What bravery! 🤣
The christo-fascists are nostalgic for places like this to once again be on the map as ongoing concerns. They can't wait to imprison and torture LGBTQ folks, uppity women, and non-christians. What fun, right?
Tour des Sorciers - Sion, Switzerland
Visit a prison tower used during witch tribunals.
"...As you lay eyes on the Sorcerers’ Tower today, the weight of its history becomes palpable. Rusty iron bars adorn every window, and the sturdy wooden door remains firmly shut, guarding secrets of the past. Gazing up at the tower, you may notice an eerie statue of a mysterious figure peering out from one of its windows, adding to its aura of mystery and intrigue. According to information posted at the tower’s entrance, remnants of torture devices, including the dreaded “strappado,” are said to still linger within its confines..."
8 years after his predecessor vetoed a bill enshrining the #Bible as the official state book, Gov. #BillLee signed into law a measure making a version of the Holy Book one of #Tennessee's 10 official tomes.
The purpose was clear: to send a message that Tennessee favors #Christianity over other forms of worship, or lack thereof.
holy cow! @lisamelton has boosted my post on what the pastor of my church had the audiacity to say about giving others basic and advanced human compassion. i'm glad because it really needs to have reach, signaling that liberal positions in #Christianity are not only allowed, but the norm given how the founder of the religion acted.
