3.19 What do you put in your coffee? Or tea? Is it a vital part of your writing process? ...It really isn't a part of my writing process. (My reading process now...I'm more likely to have a snack while reading than writing.) I don't like coffee that much, and if I have tea it's usually sweet tea.

3.12 Do you agree with Ray Bradbury, who said, "Quantity produces quality. If you only write a few things you're doomed"? ...I don't disagree with it, but I also find it to be inherently frustrating. It is very hard for me to do quantity for a variety of reasons, most of them brain-weirdness related.

Old Dude: Why do American get so upset over dogs dying in movies?
Me: ...Because we're traumatized by being made to read literature where a kid's coming-of-age arc includes the horrible death of a loyal animal companion--usually a dog.

TFW you aren't quite sure how repaired someone broken leg is going to be by the time protagonist A gets to where he needs to be. I may have to go back and edit the timeline. I hate math. So. Much. Why is there math in my writing? A curse upon needing to keep track of the sequential passage of time.

#WritersCoffeeClub 11.3 "Are dialog tags flexible?" laughed John. Occasionally using alternate dialog tags is okay, but can occasionally be slightly annoying (at least for me) because sometimes the word choice is slightly off and throws me out of the narrative. (ex: using "mumble" when "mutter" would be the word that made sense.) "said" for statements, "ask" for questions, "shouts" for exclamations, verbs where appropriate. #writingcommunity #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub 10.27 Hollywood has optioned your work for a movie. Do you disown if they change things. It would depend on what or how they changed the book. Changing the pacing to conform to standard movie length wouldn't bother me. Omitting scenes probably also wouldn't bother me. Major changes to characterization and plot probably would make me want to disown the work. #writing #writingcommunity

#WritersCoffeeClub 10.14 Many writers have cats Is pet ownership essential for your writing? Only in the sense that you are going to take rest breaks when Roy decides it's time for you to take rest breaks. (And coincidentally, give him snuggles.) He starts by dragging my hand off the mouse, then lays his head on my arm if I don't clear off my lap for Snuggle Time. #writingcommunity #writing
