Just finished my FFS consult with Dr. Kleinberger. Super nice. I felt very comfortable. He took measurements and photos and we looked at some pictures from other patients and talked about my goals. We’re going to do a hairline advancement, frontal sinus work, brow lift and some orbital socket work. But no rhinoplasty or mandible shaping or lip lift or anything like that. So that should mean a sooner date and easier recovery!

Since starting transition I’ve been way more dedicated to building a body that I am proud of and I’m super excited that as of today I beat my longest move ring streak ever with 61 days of continuous exercise. This morning I weighed in at 182lbs, which is 27lbs down from my all time high in May of 2021. I have my dysphoria days but goddammit I am proud of how I look now 💪

Florida is getting real scary real fast. They will now allow death penalty sentences with an 8-4 jury vote instead of unanimous, they’ve passed a bill to make sex crimes against children punishable by death, and they’re working to make being trans near children a sex crime. For all the “it could never happen here” folks, we’re inching closer to state sanctioned mass murder all the time.

I’ve been trying to figure out what my theme is for 2023 and I think I got it. 2023’s theme is, “Step 1: Be Attractive”.

2022’s theme was self love and I found that and it’s awesome. I made so much progress on transitioning and my mental and physical health and I started a lot of new things. This year I want to build on working towards my idealized self with three big ideas:

• Have more fun
• Explore my style
• Get in the best shape of my life

Oftentimes trans folks are challenged to defend how we really know what our gender is and we’re held to a high standard of having deconstructed gender and in having an ability to articulate and defend it. So here’s a thought experiment for cis folks:

How do you know that you’re really the gender you say you are? Can you articulate why you are your assigned gender at birth? At what age did you know? How long did you have to spend identifying as your gender before you were sure it was right?

Yesterday I was looking for some information about HRT leading up to surgery and DuckDuckGo had a link to a Reddit comment that no longer existed.

And I think that’s when it really hit me how much this Reddit shit impacts me and other trans people. There is so much information about HRT, and GRS, and understudied phenomena that only exists in comments on Reddit. Life saving information. Invaluable medical information.

And some corporate assholes can just fuck with that on a whim.
