But it makes sense that it's an exe file since most pc users run windows... so it's an apt analogy for neurodivergents vs neurotypicals...

@Sibshops @actuallyautistic There is a good reason why autistic people do this. We learn on a very young age that acting the way we actually feel gives us a shitload of problems.
We don't adapt to make neurotypicals happy, we adapt to make our life easier, to not get judged all day, to not have to explain every action we do, to not be labeled as weird or a freak, you can't imagine what effect this has on you as a kid or even an adult.

@thesquirrelfish @actuallyautistic yeah, I'm a late diagnosed and since then I'm working on this as well, and it does help. And in some situations I'm even like "Just so you know, I have autisme, deal with it, cause I can't be bothered to adapt to fit the norm right now..."
But it does not work in every situation...

Yes, and still to this day I'm considered a "picky eater"
My son as well, he is even more picky than me.
Some don't understand, but my talks did help at least one person have more respect for his step-childrens "picky eating" habbits... Which I would call a win since those kids now at least have to go through less bullshit than I did, and still do sometimes...
How adults still think they can comment on other adults eating habbits is just baffling to me...

@autism101 @actuallyautistic Yeah me too, there are 2 dishes that I order in a restaurant. Or when we eat pizza, I always have the same type of pizza. But still, there are so many ways to make a Quattro Formaggi pizza... and sometimes restaurants just throw in other stuff like paprica, which I hate... And it just destroys my meal for me. Ever tried to get all the paprica out of a thick layer of 4 types of cheese?

@Uniflame @AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic yeah, most people are not prepared for answers like "Bad" or "wish I wasn't here right now" and especially not for an honest emotional response with a some background information about my personal life...

To minimize weirdness I often use the phrase "could be better, could be worse" which is always correct...

If I apply for a new job one of the things I always tell them is "Just so you know, I have autism" so that if later I do something "weird" in the eyes of the neurotypicals, they know I have autism and I feel like that makes me less the "weird co-worker"
Many people try to accept your "weirdness" if they know what the origin of that behaviour is...

@Uniflame @AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic Yeah, everyone needs to decide this for themselves.
But if they make a problem when I tell them I'm autistic, it's better to stop right there.
But I'm lucky that I have a jobskill that is in reasonable demand, so I can choose not to work there without being afraid that I won't find another job... Not everyone has that luxury... But I believe that it is up to the ones that do to clear the path for the others that don't

Exactly... And it's up to us, to help those who can't by being open about our problems so that others don't have to expose there already problematic situations...
I always hope that I can make things easier for others by taking one fot the #AutiTeam
I don't care that I can't worke somewhere, but maybe that company starts thinking about how they treat others when they see that I refuse to work for them.
