We're excited to hear about the community updates that will be presented at the Fedora 40 Release Party. 😬 We'll learn about the Mentored Projects initiative, the git forge investigation, EPEL 10, and Week of Diversity!
Voting is under way for the Fedora 40 election cycle! Please look at the candidates and their responses to questions about serving in the roles they are running for.
Open seats are for the Fedora Council, FESCo, Mindshare Committee, and EPEL Steering Committee.
The Fedora Week of Diversity team is looking for participants for videos! We want to share a message that says "From every culture, every language, every walk of life, Fedora brings us together as one community."
Registration is now open for the Fedora 40 release party! Come join us as we learn what's new, what's coming, and what else is going on in the community!
For Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we want to recognize the work being done on accessibility by @matt as part of the @gnome Foundation. He is the lead for @accesskit and is currently working on Newton, a Wayland-oriented solution for assistive technologies that can modernize accessibility on the Linux desktop!
The Fedora Accessibility Working Group is looking to work closer with upstream as we aim to improve accessibility on Fedora. If you are interested in joining, participating, collaborating, or sharing your experience, please reach out with the Fedora DEI tag on our forum.
PSA: Fedora Linux 38 will reach end of life on May 21, next Tuesday.
Time to start upgrading. Fedora 39 will be supported for up to one month after the release of Fedora 41 (~6 months). Fedora 40 will be supported until a month after Fedora 42 (~12 months).
Fedora CoreOS is great for the server use case, but it might be tricky for someone new to it. How does it use rpm-ostree? What is Butane? What are Ignition files? But once you get going, it might be your new favorite way to manage a homelab (and more)!
@fedora been using Fedora CoreOS on my home server for a few years now and have been generally happy with it. I use the network boot + run from ram option and have it reboot + provision with ignition once a week to "erase your darlings". Also allows me to version control the config so updating is easy
As we make our five (now four) year plan more concrete, we want to come back to the high level goal and measures that help us to understand what we are doing, why, and if we are being effective.
TL;DR - We’re going to double the number of contributors who are active every week.
@fedora
This is music to my ears.
I have dabbled in Fedora contribution for a few years and it often feels like once I figure out what the current table stakes are, they turn out to be just out of reach.
Folks are enjoying the Fedora and @centos booth at Red Hat Summit this week. Come check out the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Slimbook Fedora 1 if you're here!
Thanks to Lenovo and Slimbook for these awesome devices that come with Fedora preinstalled!
