I wrote a new blogpost about and how it affects lifestyle choices; this is my first one on the topic, but probably many more to come since the move to the ! I'd appreciate it if you gave a read and shared what you think :3

This probably exists thanks to @notjustbikes who got me orange-pilled 🟠

My Recordia app (menu bar audio recorder) is now free. https://sindresorhus.com/recordia

fperson,

@sindresorhus <3

> But I enjoy making apps, not marketing

I resonate with this so much! I ended up never monetizing some apps that I kinda wanted to in the first place :)

My MacBook monitor isn't cutting it anymore... time to plug into the ultra-wide.

fperson,

@mikey btw, did you know you can get more real estate by Window -> Hide device bezels for the simulator? :)

is anyone maybe looking to hire a senior software maker? 👀

i'm considering part-time or full-time positions. part-time is preferable

Notespaces lets you easily take notes as they come to you.

Continuing with my joy levels about the Dart 3 switch statement, yes it is as powerful as Kotlin's ever was. For example one can now do something like this (admittedly contrived but you get the point)

    fperson,

@hankg yes!!! It's incredible; I really love it so far!

  • fperson,

@peterkal maybe it’s already there, but if not, letting the users also edit the password length as text could be good for UX

I'm trying to determine if there is a regional/cultural difference of opinion in something. Imagine in your mind a numeric wheel counter (like you'd have in an old cars odometer or those hand counters you'll see people use at doors to events). It is currently showing 0001. From which direction would you expect the "2" to appear when it rotates in to replace the "1":

    fperson,

@_Davidsmith the second option, perhaps, could also feel more natural if it's a scroll view 🤔

Working fullstack in all kinds of languages sometimes leads me to momentarily forget the dependencies of each project. e.g. how was it that we run the tests in this project or what are the right commands to install dependencies, do I need to start a docker compose before running the app etc.

That's why most of my projects include a Makefile where I always keep a standard set of tasks: make setup, make dev, make test, make build, make publish + additional tasks as the project requires.

    #fullstack #devTip #tip #devLife

    fperson,

@konstantin yes! Even though I primarily work with one technology, life gets easier with makefiles; I usually add tasks for generating code, localizations (I generate static references to localized strings because I'm paranoid about using strings for almost anything 🙃), and building for different flavors.

There's new Play Console App (beta) and it looks like it's Flutter app 🤔

It's another example where companies are choosing cross-platform tech instead of native development.

Probably it makes sense from business side.

It looks like slowly native android development will be reserved for more advanced apps (apps that needs to do more than asking for API call to get and show the data).

If you want to try new app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.playconsole

    fperson,

@adrian if this means we're finally going to have Play Console on iOS, I'm pretty excited :)
