Unfortunately, due to forseen and completely expected circumstances, I have horribly overbooked myself this week.

In order to make the Fedivision song contest deadline, I will be writing, recording, and submitting my entry tonight - in the next 3-4 hours, depending on when my infant wakes up.

And... time!

My song was composed and recorded (not necessarily in that order) in 4.5 hours.

I was planning on having all Sunday to work on it, but completely forgot it was Mother's Day. My wife deserves a good day. So I was kinda thinkin about her when I started making music.

So my submission for had to be done tonight.

My studio is now amok with instruments I don't know how to properly play.

I'm trying to mount an outdoor access point that covers my half acre backyard, and measure for ideal antenna positioning.

I remember the Wifi Analyzer app working brilliantly. But now... it doesn't give any real-time data. Could be a permissions thing or bug from running it with my outdated android device.

But damn the app hasn't been updated in 6 years. Anyone have any good tools for measuring wifi strength?

My goal today was to get decent wifi in my backyard , 80ft behind my house.

A Ubiquiti wifi AP arrived this morning. I spent all day setting it up and running ethernet. My wife was gone so I pulled full-time duty with the babies.

Tried mounting it in a dozen locations. Somehow, the best position for it has a giant, 3.5ft diameter trunk oak tree directly in between the AP and shedstudio.

I just got done drilling into my siding at 1am like some kind of psycho. But I did it!

@SnazzyGumball TY, just installed.

Splash screen came up with this warning about "wifi scan throttling" in newer android OS. Bet that's what my issue was.

@SnazzyGumball yep, that was definitely it. Disabled an option called "wifi scan throttling" in Android dev options settings. Old app works again, but new one has a little cleaner interface.

Just decided what I'm doing for next week.

@freakazoid I have a jewish friend and an anti-semitic friend.

I have even bad them both over to my house once, they debated a bunch of neat things. I don't think they are going to go get beers together any time soon, but... I think everyone came out of the experience with a better understanding.

Anyway, you can't cancel a project just cuz one guy is a Terf. You should befriend that guy, then send him a picture of you wearing a dress, and get him to admit that u look good.

    @flockofnazguls ive been using MX Linux too (a flavor called AV Linux). I'm going to migrate off of it, it's been impossible to change my window manager, and I've spent hours tweaking things.

    I figured thered be a command flag to relog with a different WM, but I'm pretty sure some system settings are getting overwritten.

    I just came to the conclusion that AV linux was already too precustomized for my liking!

    @tek oh, it has a purpose for sure. But it just takes up so much screen real estate... and is otherwise awkward!

    No other app uses a static right hand navbar like that... I guess it reminds me of wysiwyg editors like dreamweaver or visual studio or photoshop.

    I confess I'm not big into UX or using apps, and im no good with. Javascript. But I think the best way to fix this would be a hamburger-style pop out menu, and I'm sure I can whip that up.
