Fast forwarding to checks notes yesterday, here is Justice Margaret Marshall, who visited our studios yesterday to reflect on the historic decision in Goodridge,.
It's so interesting: I have a lot more access to ebooks than physical books, but I still really like physical books even if they are now a minority in my reading diet.
This feels similar...Wordle is as close to us as our phones or laptops, but what we really want sometimes is those physical tiles (and people?).
@gbhnews
Do you have a ebook reader and/or a subscription to a service that provides ebooks? I wouldn't say I have more access to ebooks than physical. I do seek out books even when given an ebook option, and I hate reading a full book on my phone. I've done it only once.
@gbhnews
My grandparents were ferocious scrabble players, and I grew up with the rules being "if the biggest dictionary in the house says it's not a proper noun, and abbreviation, or a foreign term, it's legal". I remember going out one time to get my grandmother a new Word Book, because hers was literally falling apart.
I don't play - not good at that stuff - but I know the basics.
@n1vux I think I want to be in that Facebook group?
One of my favorite offbeat FB groups is one of MBTA enthusiasts where they just share photos of buses and train cars, along with intensely detailed commentary on the vehicles. There is great excitement every time a subway line shuts down for repairs because that means many different hired-for-the-occasion shuttle buses.
🌞 Good morning, #fediverse! This is GBH #News bringing you the world from #Boston. It's 54F at Logan Airport and visibility is 10mi.
Over the weekend, people in many parts of North America were able to see the Northern Lights, as the aurora borealis was visible much further south than usual.
Somerville observed its annual Porchfest, with the band Guster making an unexpected appearance.
#OnThisDay in 1965, the Rolling Stones recorded "Satisfaction."
@gbhnews The weirdest thing about it, to me, was that you could only sort of detect a shimmer up here (Central Vermont) but longer exposures on the phone totally showed you what you were looking at.
@gbhnews hi! that makes sense. I'm not an expert, of course, but here's how I'd rewrite it: "1.3 million people trapped as Israel bombs Rafah" because that's the bigger news. Focusing on "Palestinian militants" is misleading, as if this a battle between equals rather than the domination of one over the other.
thanks so much for the reply! your presence here really does rule!
