@GrimmReality This is what I felt like at work with white people, nothing has changed. I know I'm not a black person during civil rights but damn, you could fool me some days with how virulently racist white people have become. They are still rabid.
We don't want to refer to people we love as evil but some are. Voting for Trump is an intentional act. Not paying your share of the meal when you're rich and your friends are poor is evil. Good people go out of their way to always be intentional to make sure they do no harm. The absence of this might not be considered evil by most but it is.

Half of all homeless people were in the foster system at some point. Social Workers often call the foster system The Highway to Homelessness. If you ever had a point in your life where you had to live with friends or family to for a short time to get back on your feet, remember that is a privilege that not everyone had.

Growing up in a diverse city and working in retail and food, my first jobs were nice. It was mostly POC. Then I moved up and was shell shocked by white peoples ordinary behaviors. I didn't know humans were capable of that type of pettiness and immaturity.

When my sister sold her home, she had her white realtor come to show the appraiser around. She LEFT HER OWN HOME during the process. Right now, my college friend is removing all signs of Blackness from her home before she puts it on the market. All art, photos, statues are being packed. All books are being turned spine in. THIS IS WHAT RACISM DOES.
@StillIRise1963 They don't understand that concept at all. They literally don't. I can't tell you how many interviewers ask me what language I speak, assuming that I speak another language and when I tell them I have no foreign language skills they get angry. Now tell me that ain't trifling 😂

White people deny they do this but I've overheard my white partners and friends say they'd never be black because of the way they're treated or that asians are treated white...giving away that they know politics very very well. Conservative women aren't dumb or narcissistic for wanting men to lead them and hating feminism. They know in their minds that once they no longer have the money and protection of men, their lives become exactly what they fear most, isolating, impoverished, their children have no hope of college and violence becomes even worse. We all live in the prison we choose based on what options we have.
Being self determined, independent, accountable, industrious and taking initiative are precisely why I was bullied in several jobs. There is no need for me to repeat this. I will do more than my job but I won't do anyone elses job or take leadership over my position. Companies will have to do better.
